Eric Bryant at Ford's Bold Moves site talks about America's love for the pickup truck. "Travel around the world, and one thing becomes decidedly clear – Americans are basically the only ones to use pickup trucks as private vehicles. Sure, one can see a few pickups in places like Seoul or Amsterdam, but such vehicles are decidedly commercial in nature, unlike the majority of pickups in the United States. Americans purchase nearly 2,500,000 full-size trucks every year, comprising some 15% of all passenger vehicle sales in the US. And in strong contrast to trends in the car market, over 90% come from the three domestic manufacturers."
