In addition to an array of hybrid cars, the editors at MSN Autos reports, "They will join Ford's Escape Hybrid, which went on sale in late summer 2004, in the market. As the 2005 model year began, Ford's Escape Hybrid was the most fuel-efficient SUV. A two-wheel-drive Escape Hybrid is rated at 36/31 mpg by the EPA; it uses a 2.3-liter 133-horsepower 4-cylinder engine mated to a 94-horsepower electric motor. Only a CVT is available. The Escape Hybrid can be had with four-wheel drive too, but the fuel economy rating falls to 33/29 mpg."
