Installation Steps

The main portion of the Banks Monster Exhaust system is installed using the factory hangers and mounts.

The Diesel Duals are mocked up prior to final fitment. Note that the tailpipes are designed to route around the spare tire and shocks…no need to remove the spare for this system!

Onto the underhood portion of the installation. The first thing Banks did was remove the radiator support and air cleaner assembly, providing access to the stock intercooler and the factory ducting. The Banks Big Hoss system calls for some minor adjustments to the fan shroud and battery tray mounts to accommodate the 3.5-inch boost tubes and High-Ram inlet.

With the radiator support and air cleaner assembly out of the way, removing the factory intercooler and ducting is a breeze.

After the factory air inlet was removed, the Banks High-Ram inlet was installed.

Despite the larger core providing 21% more volume, the Banks Techni-Cooler fits and mounts in the stock location.

Next came the installation of the boost tubes – one on the turbo outlet side and the other from the intercooler outlet to the High-Ram inlet.

With the Techni-Cooler, boost tubes, High-Ram inlet all buttoned up, the next step was to install the Six-Gun tuner. The Six-Gun install is really very simple…a virtual plug and play. The installation is directional and the owner’s manual illustrates which plug goes where.

After finishing up the rest of the install and placing the Palm Tungsten into the docking router station – the Banks PowerPDA communicates with the vehicle via infra-red (IR) through the exclusive BanksBus™ protocol and is completely portable. The full-color display is crisp and easy to read even during the day.

The Banks PowerPDA vehicle command center is mounted in the middle of the dash in a good line of sight for the driver without occupying the driver’s line of sight of the road.

The Banks Big Hoss Bundle with the PowerPDA vehicle command center is available for the GM Duramax and Dodge Cummins trucks, as well as the Ford Power Stroke. The PowerPDA is an amazing and easy device to operate right on the fly. The device has a variety of sensor and warning system that tell you what’s happening with your powertrain, sending you warning messages if anything goes wrong. Adjusting the power band happens instantly, with the touch of a button (literally). There are fully customizable tuning parameters that read and clear the OBDII vehicle codes.
