Frontier has been the mainstay for this market. In 2005 the all-new Nissan Frontier will make the move from a compact pickup to the every popular midsize range to compete with the big dogs, the Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon, Toyota Tacoma and Dodge Dakota and just like it's big brother the Titan, Nissan is pulling out all the stops to get this party going. (that sounds so cheesy) Like some of the competition Nissan is mimicking the styling of their full size pickup, the Titan, with their light-weight pickup. The Frontier now sports some of the same body styling and a smaller version of the Titan's chassis to support this new truck. Under the hood, Nissan added a new 4.0L dohc V6 that outputs 265 horsepower and 284 lb-ft torque at the flywheel. Mate that with five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission and you have the working for a pretty nice little pickup with a fair amount of get up and go. As we mentioned earlier Nissan pulled out the stops with this little gem so there are several more things to talk about such as the 4 Wheel drive, 4 Wheel limited slip traction control, Hill decent control, electric locking rear differential and a maximum towing capacity of 6500 lbs but we will save that for later.
The 2005 Frontier will hit the showrooms in December and the price has yet to be announced but if Nissan's recent track record with the new Titan tells you anything you can expect an exceptional truck and great deal for your money.
