After a study conducted, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has concluded that the 1999-2002 model years two-door Chevy Blazer is the deadliest vehicle out on the road today. The study focuses on the rate of driver deaths in different types of crash scenarios including both single vehicle and multiple vehicle accidents.

The report was based on the fact that the average death rate for any given vehicle on the road today is 87 deaths to one million vehicles, annually. The Chevy Blazer, the undisputed king of crash, weighs in at an average of 308 driver deaths per million, which is roughly 4 times higher than the national average.

Not to set a trend and blame the mid-sized SUV market, the Insurance Institute was quick to state that the Toyota RAV4 SUV ranked among the vehicles with the lowest average driver deaths annually, but Jim & I just think people are too embarrassed to drive them.
