Pickuptrucks.com uncovered new information about the development of the new 6.7 liter eight cylinder diesel motor nicknamed "Scorpion" by Ford engineers. Set to replace the current Navistar 6.4 liter eight cylinder diesel motor, the new engine is expected to pack a hefty 390 horsepower and 720 foot pounds of torque, along with an improved fuel economy of three miles per gallon which is huge for such a heavy truck. The motor is also expected to share similar technology as the General Motors' 4.5 liter Duramax eight cylinder diesel, incorporating "Intake and exhaust flow through the cylinder heads is reversed (relative to conventional diesel engine design) with the exhaust exiting directly into dual sequential turbos sitting in the engine's valley".
