More in: Chevrolet, Diesel, Dodge, Ford, General Motors, GMC, Hybrid

In an article by Business Week, Americans seem to not love pickup trucks any more, this comes after sales reports were posted for the Month of March. Last months sales were at the lowest level since 2000, down 18% for Ford's F-Series and the Chevrolet Silverado. Even worse was the Dodge Ram, off 26%. The obvious factors of the economic slowdown have been the falling of the housing market, and rising cost of crude oil with fuel prices. The construction market has also hit the automotive industry, as contractors are no longer buying many new trucks or used ones as well. The used truck market has been down for the past six months and continues to fall, including diesel trucks. At Black Book, a used car pricing directory in Atlanta, Georgia, Vice President Ricky Beggs stated in an interview, "They have been going in the can...There's no question it's related to the contraction in housing". And with the Detroit big three releasing new upcoming models, like the 2009 Ford F-150 and 2009 Dodge Ram, sales are going to continue to be rough for the pickup truck market, regardless of how nice those vehicles are.
