Ford is ready to launch its first hybrid SUV this fall. The 2005 Escape Hybrid is based on the gas-engine version and will start selling at $26,970 and get close to 40MPG.

The first full-size hybrid pickup will be available this fall by way of Chevrolet's Silverado extended cab. Packing a 5.3L 5300 Vortec V8 engine and an electric motor, MPG is expected to improve by 10-12%.

On a somewhat related note, check out GM's first hybrid transit bus. Metro Transit in King County Washington ordered 213 of these bad boys that were put into service this past June.
