More in: Ford, Suspension Donahoe Racing manufacturers arguably the best lift system for the Ford Super Duty trucks and those who say differently probably have never ridden in one of their plush ride systems. In 2005 Ford introduced a completely different front suspension in their 4x4 Super Duty trucks which lost the somewhat cherished front leaf springs in favor of front coils springs and radius arms. Donahoe Racing has it's roots deep in off-road Trophy Truck racing and believe me, they know how to build a suspension.
Donahoe Racing has had this kit in development for several months while they have been fine tuning it for release, and all that work has paid off. The new kit promises to be one of the best systems ever produced, as it is completely manufactured by Donahoe Racing down to the performance DR shocks that are specifically valved for the vehicles the kit was designed for. The reason why specifically valved shocks would be beneficial to your trucks is that the weight difference between a PSD equipped SuperDuty and a V-10 equipped model is a couple thousand pounds or if you have a dual front shock set up in front as apposed to a single front shock, which all relates to how that front end behaves on the road. Paying attention to these details is the difference that makes DR's system better than everyone else's, in our opinion. Sure, these kit's cost more than you average (or even top-of-the-line) Pro Comp system, but as I was told by a friend of mine who happens to be an installer for 4 Wheel Parts here in Houston, the 8 inch Donahoe Racing suspension system installed on my 2001 Super Duty rides better than any Pro-Comp 4 inch lift system that he has installed. Not believing him, I put the lift to a test and went for a mind-numbing, back-jarring ride in trucks equipped with Pro Comp, SkyJacker and Fabtech lift kits. Out of the three, SkyJaker had the best ride but neither of those kits performed anywhere near as smooth as the 8 inch lift system installed on my truck. It's also important to note that out of those three systems, the largest was still 2 inches shy of the DR ride height and none of the 3 kits tested had performance tuned shocks installed. Performance on the road may not sound like such a big deal to you, but unless your truck is for off-road use only, then odds are your truck spends more time on the pavement than it does on the dirt. Are we biased? Hell yes, but we will always be biased when we find a superior product. We aren't paid to write these reviews and we don't get a kick back from the manufacturers we write about, but we firmly believe that a superior product should be recognized and that is reason we write these reviews. DR's lift systems are definitely the superior product when it comes to building the suspension on your Super Duty, and now they support all models from 1999 to 2005.
