When the re-designed 2004 Ford F-150 hit dealer lots over 4 years ago, it came with a new 3 valve 5.4-liter V8 engine that produced a decent power band, but really needed to be woken up overall. Engineers at Edge Products in Ogden, Utah helped solve this issue, with the release of the Evolution Programmer. We've been anxious to get our hands on one of Edge's new programmers for Project Truckblog, and wanted to be able to test out their programming unit. The Evolution Programmers key features include: • Gains of up to 35 HP and 50 Ft Torque • Sleek Design Stays with the Vehicle as a State-of-the-Art Display • Programs in minutes • Ships with a Custom Designed Mounting Pod • USB Update-able over the Internet • Change Speed, Rev Limiters, Adjust Tire Size and Gear Ratio • Display and Clear DTC Codes • Improved Fuel Economy (based on driving style) • Adjustable Color Screen The Evolution unit allows you to save all of your stock program settings automatically, creating a backup prior to writing any new programs. After saving your stock settings, you have the option of selecting three different power band levels, from Transmission Only Program, Tow Performance Program (requires 87+ octane fuel) or High Performance Program (requires 91+ octane fuel). You also have the availability to change your speed limiter, rev limiter, adjust your specific tire size, gear ratios, zero to 60 times, quarter mile times, and more.
What comes in the box? • Evolution Programmer • Custom Designed Mounting Pod • OBDII Extension Wires • USB Connections • Edge Software • Instructions The following is a how-to installation of the Evolution Programmer and including our review.
