How to Etch Your Own Windows Written by: Brian Donahue Tools Needed: Air eraser Masking tape Stencil Cardboard Compressor (has to run at least 30 PSI) Stiff squeegee Step 1: For the stencil I went to a local decal shop and they had a blast quality decal that I used and just had them make me a negetive of what I wanted it cost me 15 bucks so its cheap.
Step 2: The air eraser came from Eastwood and in the pic is also a box of the media used for blasting. It will come with some (it was enough to do mine and have some left) but I bought extra just incase.
Step 3: First clean the back window with some glass cleaner.
Step 4: Then apply the stencil same as you would a large decal use a little soap and water so you can move it around once in place carefully squeegee out the soapy water and let it dry a little (sometimes you'll have to remove the outer cover after on to get it to dry).
Step 5: Next would be to remove the outer cover. Make sure at this point everything is were you want it and if it is make sure its dry enough that it will not move from 30 PSI.
Step 6: Now cover around out side of the window, I used carboard to make sure I had no bleed through to the paint.
Step 7: Next is to do the etching, take your time make sure you cover all the areas. You will have to go over each area several times.
Step 8: The hard part is done now just strip off the carboard and stencil.
Step 9: All done except you will have media all over the place so you will want to wash your truck and have a finished product.
