More in: How-To, Interior, New Products, Tires Now, to correct the speed signal to the vehicle, the Speed Wizard interrupts the factory signal, reprocesses it, and outputs it back to the vehicle. The input and outputs on the Speed Wizard are purple and orange, respectively. Cut the gray wire with the black tracer six inches from the factory connector, and crimp the end leading to the connector to the purple wire. Take the end still attached to the connector, and crimp that to the orange wire. Solder the connection. Note: be sure to slip the heat shrink onto the wires after cutting them, and prior to making the crimp connection!
Slide the heat shrink over the metal connector, and use a heat gun (or a lighter) to shrink the tubing. At this point, you can reinstall the dash. Simply reverse the first two steps.
The black wire is the ground for the Speed Wizard. There are multiple locations for a ground in the Super Duty. Simply crimp on a ring, and use the ground under the dashboard, indicated by the arrow. The remaining yellow wire is the key-on 12 volts that powers the unit. Tap into the red wire with a green tracer under the steering column.
Using the supplied Velcro, the cleanest place to install the Speed Wizard is under the steering column. It provides easy access to the buttons, and is neatly hidden by the factory kick panel. From here on out, follow the supplied directions on how to calibrate the speedometer, and your all done!
