BMW has announced the integration of the Apple iPhone with some of their 2007 and later model vehicles, including the BMW X5 cross-over SUV. The iPhone uses the existing iPod availability as well as the current Bluetooth integration. The iPhone's iPod feature also allows for full radio and iDrive screen integration via the multimedia display with the the following vehicles:

* 3 Series built March 2007 and later
* 5 Series built March 2007 and later
* 6 Series built September 2007 and later
* X5 built April 2007 and later

And now my opinion...

With great advances in technology, there's also an additional hazard created. With full integration of new vehicle technology, the iPhone in addition to the iPod, these devices now take your eyes off the road even longer, possibly resulting in an accident (see above). So when you connect your new iPhone to your BMW at home (or future iPhone enabled vehicles), make sure you keep your eyes on the road!
