Toyota plans to convert their Highlander into the first 7-passenger SUV this next year. It will sport a 3.3L V8 engine that will be powered by a new version of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain. They expect the combined city-highway fuel efficiency rating to surpass 27.6 miles per gallon (the current average for a compact sedan).
