More in: Chevrolet, Sport Trucks David Mikesell at the Dayton Daily News reports on the new 2005 Chevrolet SSR: "Highlighting the 2005 SSR is a 6.0-liter V-8 engine lifted straight from the Chevy Corvette. The engine turns out 390 horsepower and is a marked improvement over the previous powerplant, a 300-horsepower 5.3-liter V-8. The added horsepower makes the SSR a rumbling mass of energy. At nearly two-and-a-half tons, the SSR needs a hot engine to match its looks and now has it. The exhaust has been retuned to maintain its lusty roar. The SSR comes standard with a 4-speed automatic transmission - another copy of a Corvette piece. A 6-speed manual transmission is newly available as an $815 option."
