Step 6: Install the roll top cover assembly onto the truck bed

Roll the cover into the canister and push down firmly on the latch to lock it in place. Using two people, lift the bed cover by supporting the canister and the rails. Set the assembly in place at the very front of the bed. Gently push and twist the rails slightly inward if required to drop the assembly in place.

Step 7: Position the roll top cover assembly in the truck bed

With the tailgate closed, gently slide the assembly forward or backward to achieve a 1/8" gap between the bottom notch of the rail and the inside face of the closed tailgate. Use the supplied measuring tool to achieve 1/8" clearance. Note: Plastic bed liners may have to be cut or notched at the front of the bed so the canister can be moved forward to achieve the proper 1/8" clearance at the tailgate.

Step 8: Install the front set of clamps

Start with the two clamps closest to the canister. If there are two distinct sizes of clamps, use the larger set up front. Proper clamp location is between the two adjustment screws. The clamps should be installed as high up as possible to engage more teeth on the rail. Using a 9/16" wrench, tighten the front set of clamps. Push down on the rail as you tighten the clamp bolts for a better seal on top of the pickup box rails. If the clamp wants to rotate while tightening, secure it with pliers or vice-grips.

The adjustment screws are set at different depths depending on truck model. Most pickup beds are wider at the front than the rear. Bed rail caps affect adjustment also. Fine tuning of the nylon adjustment screws will be addressed later during the installation.

Step 9: Install the rear set of clamps

Repeat step #8 to attach the rear set of clamps.

Once the front and rear clamps have been installed check for proper fit between the front cover and the rolling cover. Using the lock handle, pull the cover closed over the tailgate and latch the cover in position. The amount of weather strip showing at the front of the rolling cover should be close to equal on both the passenger and driver side. If there is less weather strip exposed on one side, adjust that rail by removing the clamps and moving that rail toward the cab. Replace the clamps and close the cover to re-check. Readjust as required.

Step 10: Measure the side-to-side play of the installed cover

Note: Tighten all clamps securely. The nylon adjustment screws will take an initial set and it is important that the clamps are tight for accurate cover side play measurements. Proper side-to-side play of the rolling cover is 1/8". You will be measuring and adjusting the distance the cover can be moved left to right between the two rails. This measurement is very important. The overall performance of the bed cover will improve with proper side play adjustment.

** The measurement is taken using the supplied measuring tool at front and rear clamp locations **

Start at the front set of clamps and then move to the back. Unlock and move the cover so the lock is lined up over the clamp. To measure side play, pull the cover left over to the driver's side. Using a piece of tape, mark the place where the edge of the felt-lined weather strip touches the cover next to the lock. Next slide the cover right to the passenger side. Use the supplied 1/8" measuring tool to aid in determining the measurements. Repeat this process on both sides at both sets of clamps.
