New York Times reporter Jim Motavalli recently published a great article that gives insight into the new truck hybrids that are coming out on the market. This includes the Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid pickup, G.M.'s first hybrid, and Ford's new Escape hybrid.

We found this interesting:

"It is not surprising then that Ford, whose own 2005-model hybrid is based on the small Escape sport utility wagon, would counter with an advertisement of its own. "Unlike the competitor's mild hybrids, which always require power from the gasoline engine, full hybrids - like the new Ford Escape Hybrid - have the ability to drive in electric-only mode at certain speeds," the ad says. The Escape shares this ability with the Prius, from which it borrows crucial technology. (The Ford ad does not mention this.)"
