I thought I was just hearing a joke on SNL last night as I grabbed the remote to turn off the television. The news reporter stated that Exxon Mobile posted a $40B profit in 2006, setting a new record for the most profit ever made by a U.S. company in single year. I contemplated the news and drifted off into la-la-land, vowing to myself to confirm the report in the morning. Sure enough, MSNBC (and other news sources) had posted a story yesterday, proving that it wasn't just a bad SNL skit. $39.5 billion profit (yes, profit) in a single year. At least now we know why gas prices have been so high... we've been padding the pockets of Exxon Mobile execs. What a scam. No wonder our nation's economy is in the shitter -- all our money is going to these idiots. Please digg this story.
