E3 Joins the Fight Against Global Warming

The increase in the Earth’s average temperature, otherwise known as global warming, is attributed to increased amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses. While there are still naysayers that say global warming is not a threat, there has been a documented rise in the Earth’s temperature in the last century of 1 degree Fahrenheit. A higher average temperature affects climate, sea levels, and precipitation. With a doubling of CO2 in the atmosphere, computer modeling projects that global temperature could increase between 2.5° to 10.5° F by 2100. Add to this that CO2 has an estimated atmospheric lifespan of 50 to 200 years, and that by 2030 the number of automobiles in the world will increase 50%, and the problem of global warming becomes more imminent.

One noticeable and measurable effect of global warming is the melting of ice near the poles, more frequent and extreme weather events: floods, droughts, hurricanes, and tornados, as well as lower agricultural yields, species extinctions, and smog.

While some refuse to believe that the Earth is experiencing major climate change, top university scientists and political leaders from around the globe will meet November 6-17 in 2006 for the United Nations Climate Change Conference at Nairobi-Gigiri, Kenya to discuss collective policies to prevent an irrevocable natural disaster. Signs of climatic change are occurring. Since the mid ‘70s the Arctic ice pack has lost an area the size of Texas and Arizona combined. Globally, protests have been planned for November 4th and 13th to help bring attention to a problem that can no longer be ignored.

Already, a groundswell of voluntary activism and corporate support is beginning to take hold. Large corporations such as Wal-Mart, Boeing, IBM, Whirlpool and John Hancock are committing resources to a solution. Recently, Wal-Mart pledged to make their stores 30% more energy efficient by stocking environmental friendly products aimed at reducing emissions, energy, and solid waste. E3 Spark Plugs, manufacturer of a revolutionary new spark plug that greatly reduces toxic emissions and improves fuel efficiency, is also joining the fight to reduce greenhouse gasses to ensure a healthier, more stable environment with the manufacture of a new Earth friendly spark plug.

As individuals we have the opportunity to select Earth-friendly products, from the type of vehicle one purchases (hybrid or biodiesel), to the type of gas we use, even to the selection of which spark plug to use in our automobile or lawnmower. While automobiles account for 1/3 of the Carbon Dioxide emissions in the U.S., it is interesting to note that operating a lawnmower, weedeater, or other small equipment blowers is even more harmful to the environment.

Riding a lawn mower is equal in emissions to driving a car for 13 hours. The California Air Resources Board (CARB), reports gallon for gallon, small engines emit 93 times as many pollutants as automobiles.

E3 is fighting back by developing a spark plug for small engine, automotive, and powersport applications, that greatly reduces toxic emissions of NOx, and CO while improving fuel efficiency. E3’s ability to provide a more complete combustion of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder provides a 15% reduction of toxic emissions in small engines and an improvement of fuel economy of 3-13% depending on engine class. Over a 50-hour time span, HC is reduced in small engines by 42%, and CO by 59% as compared to other major brands. With over 52 million lawnmowers in the U.S. and 23 million small engines in the form of other outdoor power equipment, the change alone in spark plug selection can have a significant impact.

Join E3 on Global Day, November 4, and throughout the year to help combat global warming. To learn more about global warming, visit http://unfccc.int/2860.php, or visit www.e3sparkplugs.com.
