
General Motors to Close Sport Utility Vehicle Factory in Ohio, Plus Three Others General Motors Corporation announced Friday afternoon they will shut down their sport utility vehicle plant in Ohio on December 23rd, as the company shifts production over to smaller vehicles. Additional plants also made the list in Janesville, Wisconsin, Oshawa, Ontario and Toluca, Mexico, resulting in a loss of approximately 8,350 jobs by 2010. The decisions were made based off of an "accelerated shutdown" that is related to the company cutting costs. Reported by Detroit News.
