Ok, so I have a bunch of miles on my BFG All Terrains, and need to replace them. In looking around, I have noticed how many people are running toyo's now. I am looking for some feedback on tires, what lasts, nice ride, etc. Noise isn't really an issue, I think I will stay away from mud terrain type, I drive 400-500 miles a week 99% of it on pavement. I would like an all terrain pattern, just in case I have to put it in 4wd. Any thoughts? Miles you are getting out of tires, etc would be helpful.

My Toyos are going on 11K miles and still look brand new. So you know where I'm going to steer you. No noise to speak of. A little hard in the ride, but I think a lot of that is my Superlift springs going soft.

In A/T's also look at Nitto and Goodyear.

How long did your BFG's last and were you not happy with them?

I got 63,000 miles out of the OEM set of Goodyear Wrangler AT/S tires. They probably could have gone another 5,000, but we decided to replace them before this winter.

I shopped around and couldn't really find anything better as far as value in a mud/snow rated tire. Getting 60-65,000 miles out of a set of tires is pretty good, and the Goodyears were at the lower end of the price range for this size tire.

We got the best deal I could find from the Ford dealer. Four 275-65-18 Wrangler AT/S, mounted and balanced for $684.96.

They ain't the fanciest tires around, but they get the job done.

I'm suggesting you look at nittos.... The terra Grappler is a great tire. Mine held up great and even helped me win a few trophies in the pulling circut around here.

I have been happy with the BFG's, I am trying to remember when I got them, its been several years. There are starting to get a little slick when its rainy, so I was just looking around. I may go down from 35's to 33's, and up in rim size, I just don't know how that would look with a 3" body lift.

I ran the Toyo Open Country AT's on my SCrew. Loved 'em! Good all-round tire for on and off road (no serious muddin' and absolutely zero soft sand!).

The rode well, were quiet and the lasted the 60k miles that I put on them before trading in the truck.

They're worth considering.

Give us size specific size....it'll help narrow the field.

For cool tread patterns - try:

Kumho Road Venture MT
Nitto Trail Grappler MT

I love my Toyo MT's. As a matter of fact, I've got another set coming!

I am looking at 35x12.50 17 or 18. Again, I spend A LOT of time on pavement. I have been pleased with the BFG's, I have just seen a pretty big following for the Toyos and thought I would look around. I may go down ot 33x12.50 soemthing, I just don't want my truck to look odd with the body lift and little tires.

One more thing. I have found a set of Toyo Open Country MT on some XD wheels on ebay, but hte tires are load range E. Will that affect the ride on a half ton truck, or could I expect longer tread life becasue they are a little stiffer?
