well there are 2 beaches near corpus you can drive on that I go to.. one is free and one isnt.. and they are pretty much next to each other

you just head south a little pass the base, and head out on that highway to the islands.. long bridges etc.. when you get out there you keep following the bech on that little highway going to the right.. eventually there will be to turns, one to the left goes to the free beach.. you end up driving to the left down the beach.. where Ive taken some really nice pics with the water hitting my truck.. which you have probably seen as my avatar on offroadworld.net.. the other is right there where the highway ends and they have a booth to pay.. you can park there, or start driving to the right.. sometimes some of that sand is really soft and once you leave the paved area, idiots get stuff right away.. but you can actually go for I dont know.. lots and lots of miles.. eventually you'll see a sign that says only 4x4s beyond this point.. dont know if its still there or not..

I dont know how experienced you are with the different dryness levels of sand.. but I wouldnt mind talking about that in a seperate response, if you want me to.. Ive never aired down my tires for sand btw.. but a lot of people do

oh, I know people in corpus who are pretty cool, and personally I was born there.. is pistonhead on this site? he should be..

also dont forget the corpus christi heatwave in a few months.. :)

Thanks Arti,
Pretty knowledgeable on the sand...infact for many years that was the only off-roading I did lol-lol (South Padre)

The thing about Corpus is that I have been there many times either for the nightlife, the museum, the aquarium,etc....or on the way to the gambling vessel
Never ventured out to the beaches because of stories I have heard about being unsafe (the people), but I just need to go, been told to stay away from north padre and/or mustang beach.?????

Was told that "JP Luby" is nice.

Hoepfully Jason (Thepistonhead), will chime in with some info too

Thanks for the email Terry! Whats up Manny!

Well its like this......There are sort of 3 beaches in Corpus and 1 in Port A. Starting the farthest south would be the Padre Island National Seashore which is what Arti was talking about were there is a booth because its a national park. Its not much money....a few bucks. You can take that south all the way to the Mansfield Jetty's which is by the way the only thing that disables us from being able to drive all the way to SPI via the beach. It is roughly 40 miles of beach, so if you want peace and quite thats the way to go. Next beach north would be Bob Hall Pier area. This is where all the hotels are too. A bit more family oriented and still hoping and there is a big pier there which is good for surfers. Then north of that you will cross the Packery Channel where on the north side is J.P. Luby beach. Im actually guessing this is where you were warned about. Lots of younger people hangin there but this is mostly were I go simply for the sights but honestly for the most part any drama that happens is between young punks. Ive never had issues.

Lastly, not Corpus but Port A......its a bit nocer down there which im sure your familiar with the area. Cleaner beaches and a ton of resteraunts and bars to hang out in just off the beach.....some of which are on the water with views of the marina areas. I will subscribe to this so if you have any other questions dont hesitate to ask. Coincidentally we will be hanging out on a condo down there during those same dates.

Jason,
Thanks for the great info!, Were prolly gonna do Corpus (aquarium/museum)on Friday, and then more than likely head on out to JPP Luby for a small drive. Then head on out to P.Aransas for Sat. and Sun., Jason maybe w'll meet up, or run into each other.

Again...thanks for the great info guys.

I like Port A. and JP Luby on the North side of the new Jettys. I have heard some good fishing reports fishing under the seaweed in the gulf off the Jettys. I surf at Bob Hall but not really a good beach to hang out at. The national seashore is COVERED in seaweed and smells like ass. I drove south down the beach about a week ago and it was pretty sickening.

I will be in town over that weekend for a fishing tournament and to get tanked on the beach....:) Maybe thepistonhead will answer phone and not be a pussie.....:)

I will be at Hooks in Port A tommorow and in Port A until Sunday morning and then heading home for another party around the corner and Monday im off to Truck Toyz for some new gadgets that have been there waiting for me for a few months. Dont foget my new cell number. Hope to see you guys this weekend.

Oh....Bart....went fishing last weekend....it wasnt so good. We were up and down the intercoastal but not much happening. Just a bunch of small trout and other crap fish. Hopefully you'll do well. The weather has shifted though since last weekend.
