| Adams has an aerosol wax that's very light that we use on all our vinyl and rubber stuff, and even on the semi-flat painted trailer hitch paint and roof rack.
It's called 'In n Out Spray'. It doesn't run (that's why I think it's a light wax, and it makes surfaces look like Mark05KR posted in the Black Magic Tire Wet (applied with a cloth) pictures.
If I just spray it on and go, the overspray is visible on glass, paint, etc. And the surface attracts a lot of dust. If I spray it on and then wipe it off (buffing any nearby glass or paint - comes off much easier than VRT) it looks just as good but doesn't seem to be a dirt magnet.
Anyway, I stopped using VRT altogether after we started using this stuff. Makes the engine look like new, all the black plastic look great, etc., in only a few minutes. I started buying it by the case we used it so much!

| | On the mirrors, and other like-textured plastics, you can actually use a liquid wax, as long as you take it right off. | |

I hadn't thought of using the In&Out spray on the trim. I use it a lot under the hood and to get to areas in the front wheel wells. How do you apply it to trim around the windows and such without getting it all over the paint and glass? You can't really get a lot of precision trying to aim with the aerosol can. I wonder if it would work if it was sprayed onto a cloth and then wiped on?
Well, it is raining here today, so I will check the results of the Tire Wet experiment once it stops. I will definitely try the In&Out spray and see how that works.
Thanks. | |

| I do plan to try the JustOnce. I just don't have any right now so I am experimenting with products I have on hand. Plus, the Black Magic Tire Wet is cheap (about $6.00 for a 32oz bottle) and available locally.
The Tire Wet also does a real nice job on the rubber(plastic?) inside the front wheel wells.

| Hey Richard - you're right, we DON'T get much rain, especially this year.
But I wasn't kidding. Maybe the In 'n Out Spray runs for most people, but I usually don't see that. I think it might be because I'm saying you should wipe it down after application (which removes much of the excess, so what's left to run?).
And about putting it on window trim and stuff... since it's a wax based product (I'm almost sure of this, because of the way it buffs off), you can use it on your waxed truck, which gets it all over windows and paint, and simply wipe it down and give it a light buff anywhere on the paint/windows it got on. It wipes off clean and leaves the plastic/vinyl/rubber at about 70% of the original shininess. And, like I said, wiping it down afterward gets rid of that dirt-collecting problem too.
I had about 10X more difficulty getting VRT to buff off of surfaces it got onto by accident, which is why I stopped using it.

| I also usually give the In and Out spray a good wiping down after a few minutes but any time it rains after application it does the exact same thing Mark05 is complaining about. Makes a streaking mess everywhere.

| Well, I got some mixed results with the Black Magic Tire Wet.
It did not stick well to the plastic door handles or to the plastic mirror shell. It also caused quite a bit of streaking on the paint which comes off easily with a mf towel and some detail spray.
The strange part is that it washed off the bottom of those parts but it appears to have stayed on the upper portions where the rain actually hits it. The rain runoff seems to have done the most to remove the treatment.
It did stick pretty well to the plastic mud flaps, the wiper cowl and to the rubber window moldings. I also treated the soft tonneau cover by spraying the tire wet on and then wiping it around with a cloth. That application also seems to have made it through the rain.
The tonneau had not been treated with anything prior to applying the Tire Wet, and that seems to have stood up the best against the rain. The water is beading up well and the tonneau still has a nice sheen. The only down side appears to be the streaking, which could have been due to too much product. Plus, the streaks are easily removed with detail spray, which I would normally do anyway after a rain.
I still have to wonder if the previously applied VRT could have been part of the cause for the Tire Wet not sticking well to some of the plastics.

| Here is the response I received from Adam's Polishes:
Hello Mark,
Thanks for the email and for your business with Adam's Polishes!!! Because our VRT is a water-based dressing, once it comes in contact with an outside source of water: (heavy rain, heavy dew, or when you wash your vehicle), the VRT will come off. So unfortunately it is not completely rain resistant. It is also the same case with our In & Out Spray. In & Out is also water-based, so once it comes in contact with an outside water source, it will too come off. The In & Out should provide good results when applied with a cloth. You may find it a little harder to spread; in that case you may want to try the VRT instead. Since our VRT and In & Out Spray do not contain any sort of harmful Petroleum-based products, the longevity of them are not as great as some other dressings. Some of the advantages of having a water-based dressing is it will not harm your vehicle’s finish, it will not discolor vinyl, rubber, or plastic pieces, and it does not collect heavy dust and road dirt. VRT and In & Out Spray also leaves low-gloss, new looking finishes to all vinyl, rubber, and plastic trim. Also, the best way to prevent streaks is to apply the VRT as thinly as possible.
To answer your question Mark, yes, In & Out Spray does contain UV protection similar to the VRT.
Thank you again for the email and for your business with Adam's Polishes!!! Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Have a great day!

| Well, it turns out that the Tire Wet streaking on the paint is not any where near as easy to remove as the streaks left by the VRT. I will not be using that stuff again on the trim and especially on the tonneau.

| No problem I am certain you will be happy with it. I know i certainly am.
When using it though do to spray it directly onto the plastic. Spray it onto a foam pad or MF covered foam pad and then wipe on. Also make sure to wash your hands after-wards as it will be stuck all over you if you get it on your hands. Also wash out teh aplicator you use or it will get stiff as a board.

| I tried another experiment today.
I was cleaning up LOML's Mustang. On the convertible top I have been using Raggtopp vinyl protectant. I got some on the plastic trim and it looked pretty good. I read up on the product a little and it says it is formulated for any vinyl and will not harm plastic or rubber.
So I figured what the heck, give it a try. It lasts a long time on the convertible top, through rain and washings. I guess I'll see if it works as well on the trim.

| It did take awhile for the product to arrive one of the things i complained to them about. Maybe 2 weeks or so. Looks like your order was taken on a weekend as was mine one of the reasons i think it took so long. As for your info coming up. Clear out all your cookies and then go back and I am certain none of it will come up.

| I was able to clear my information from the order form. It was just a little surprising that everything was still there.
Today is the tenth business day since I placed the order. Hopefully it will come soon. What really bugs me is that I haven't received a single response to the emails I sent or to the phone message I left. That is just really bad customer service.

| Yeah that does not sound normal. They have replied to me pretty quickly when ever i have needed to ask a question. I wonder if they are on Vacation? Not that it is an excuse they should have at least had an auto reply setup if that was the case.
Did you get a order confirmation via email once you placed the order? If not then maybe the order did not get placed.
