I am going to be in the market for a digital point and shoot for my boyfriend this Christmas and I was hoping to get some suggestions on what to buy…
There are just SO many out there these days. I don’t feel like I’m up to date enough to make an educated decision, but I know that quite a few of you are!
These are my requirements:
10.0-12.0 megapixels 3x + optical zoom Non rechargeable batteries Very slim Black SD media card only Open to ALL brands Around $150.00

I purchased my daughter Fuji Finpix Z5 and that thing is a great little camera. She actually takes it with her everywhere shoe goes.
But ti take a chargeable battery but in my opinion that is the only way to go as the cameras that take AA batteries tend to have short battery life and eat batteries.

I prefer the rechargeable battery for my DSLR, but I know he'd forget to charge the battery for his own camera. That's why I figured popping 2 AA's in it every once in a while would be more convenient. At least for him.
So the Fugi Z5? I will have to check it out. Thanks!

I know with the Fuji she only has to charge the battery maybe once a month. She says she can use it for a full month normally before needing to charge it and she uses it a lot.
When i was researching before I purchased it for her the one thing she complained to me about was here last camera took the AA and she hated it as it constantly had to have new ones installed and they did not last long. And she wanted one with a rechargable

It is going to be very tough to find a small/slim point and shoot that does not have a rechargeable battery. If you want one that uses AA batteries, it will be bigger and it will go through batteries fast.
Best bet is to get one with a rechargeable battery and get a couple batteries.

I bought a Sony P&S for the Mrs. a while back. It's a very slim camera with a touch screen and a rechargeable battery. I'm constantly amazed at the quality of its pictures.

I have a Casio Exilim. It's an older model 7.2mp. Nice and small and light. It has a large screen. Takes pretty good pictures. The newer models are in the 10-12 mp range.
It does not use standard aa or aaa batteries, but the NP-40 battery lasts a long time, lots of pics. It does use sd memory cards. It also uses a dock for charging and downloading pictures. You can't just plug it into a usb cable, which kinda sucks for portabilty.
Overall, a pretty good point and shoot. Worth doing some research on. It fits within your price range.

And it looks like I've narrowed it down to two contenders!
The Nikon S220!
and
The Olympus FE4000!
After looking over all of your responces again I realized that the rechargable battery is the way to go, he's just going to have to get used to it. These two are the best for the money (that I found), both great brands. So now the deciding factor will only be color... whichever I find quicker in black or dark grey will be the winner.
Suggestions needed!
