I got a Canon 20D with a 17-85 lens and a 580EX flash. I can finally get some nice shots now. Now I just have to learn to use it, lol.

Congrats! That series (10D, 20D, 30D+) are awesome cameras. I have had my 30D for years and I have had zero problems with it. The only issue you'll have to deal with is dust bunnies on the sensor, but that's easy to clean yourself. Just Google "dslr sensor cleaning" to learn more. or you can also send it in to Canon for cleaning, however I personally recommend just doing it yourself.

You'll probably outgrow that lens pretty quickly, but it's a good place to start.

Nice setup overall, hope you have fun with it.

Thanks for the tip, will have to keep that in mind. How will I know when this needs to be done?

I think that applies to ALL DSLR's... I've had my eye on a f/2.8G lens for my Nikon but there is just no way I can justify spending that much.
