Hi everybody.....my little brother Patrick has joined my other brother Michael....he passed away this morning at 5:25 at Harbor View Hospital in Seattle. My parents, his fiance'Rachel and Christina and I were by his side until the end. Some of his close friends also were there to see him one last time and tell him how much they loved him.He fought the good fight all the way to his last breath. He was working on Friday and started to have some severe head aches after work so his fiance' Rachel took him in to Sedro Wooley medical to have him checked out, they upped his meds to get him through the weekend until he could see his regular doctor in Seattle on monday the 24th.Patrick pretty much just stayed home on Saturday and rested as he had a big art gallery showing on Sunday the 23rd.The art show was for some photograghs he did on a slot car track he and I had been building for the past few months. He got the bright idea that he could do his next industrial art show about our little joint hobby project. He has always had an eye for what looks good through the lens of camera .....and the pics he took came out awsome. For the show he asked me to get as many friends as I could find to show up at the gallery site so he could have some cool street rod and muscale cars parked around the old gas station where the show was taking place.Twenty or so cars showed up and hundreds of people came to see Patricks art.Unfortunatly Patrick was in a bad way by mid Sunday and could not make the show.....he was on his way to Harbor View on a life flight chopper with severe brain swelling ... he arrived still alert enough to hear his options and did not want to be put through any more surgery to just give him a few hours to linger. He just wanted to go out on his own if things did not settle down in his brain after the medication they gave him to lesson the swelling failed. He just slowly fell away from us with no pain. The swelling of his brain was pushing down on his spinal cord and shutting his body down one system at a time until he just lay there looking like he was taking a nap ......and then nothing...he was gone..safe with God and Michael. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.Patrick was the type of guy that when you met him you never forgot him....he was the real deal,a stand up guy,and the one guy you could count on in a pinch.I can't think of one person who knew my brother and did not come away with a bad feeling,he always made you feel like you were the coolest person he has ever met.Now it's just me...the last brother of three the one who will live on with my two siblings deep inside my heart helping me with all my future adventures........the journey continues......

Sorry to hear that. I'm glad he went with dignity, and no pain, and had his loved ones at his side.

Sorry for your loss. Atleast we went without any pain and had his family by his side.

Rick - I'm heartily sad for you and your entire family. I wish I had the opportunity to have met your brother. May the time you two spent together inspire you to even higher levels of awesomeness.

Rick, my condolences to you, your family, and Patrick's close friends. The way you described him portrays a beautiful person and I'm sure he touched many lives throughout his lifetime. He may be gone but his memory will always be with you.

Take care, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thanks everybody for your kind thoughts and prayers. It really means alot and helps us all to know that Patrick is some where above looking down and knowing that he has left with so much love lifting his wings,he was truly an angel here on earth and now an even better one in heaven.Rachel, Christina and I are planning to do some of the things that Patrick wished for after he passed. He wanted everyone to know that he is in a better place and that we should all celabrate his love for life with a party for his memorial.Mom and Dad want to have a small service for him here in Shelter Bay where Christina and I live and Patrick spent so much of his time. Then after that He wants his ashes spread out in the Channel here in La Conner where he loved to run around with his boat and friends.Durring that time he wants all of his close friends and family to throw a party and celabrate all that he was......and will be.Oh and yes ...Patrick did have a little hot rod project that he started but could not finish ,so guess what I will be doing in the near future.Ya you guessed it....another car in memory of a great brother. He told me jokeingly a few weeks ago that he could not wait to see what I would do to his VW Beetle after he was gone......I was hoping it would get finished by the two us but I think he knew it would end up being my next little task in his memory.Everybody here is doing alot better now that a few days have past and I got back to work today , Mom and Dad are taking this one a bit better than when Michael died back in 99...but I think the cercumstances where different now and Mom and Dad had some time to prepare for the inevidable.Patricks fiance' Rachel is being so strong and feels so very blessed that she had Patrick in her life and wants to continue showing Patricks industrial art once a year in some sort of memorial show....I look forward to those.
Again I want to thank all you guys for your prayers and thoughts...it really helps me to know that I have some folks to share some feelings and thoughts with. I'll talk with you soon......Rick
