| I know how you feel when you know your vehical is coming to the end of it's usefullness. Parting it out should get you more of a return on your investment than selling it as a whole. What Lightning part do you have?

| I think you should strip it down and resell the parts. If you sell it you're only going to get pennies on the dollar for the custom stuff and it's really not going to increase the selling price on a 10-year old truck with 200k on the odometer.
With all the online truck sites and ebay - you shouldn't have much trouble selling off the parts if you've set a reasonable price.
So, after you unload that truck, what's next? | |

| Still seems like a couple of thousand dollars worth of repairs is going to be cheaper than selling it and getting something new.
Given everything you've gone through in the last year, I would recommend that you conserve capital and not go starting over on another vehicle.
Assuming the truck is paid for and not showing any signs of major potential failure, there aren't many other options that make justifiable financial sense.

| | Just an update here, the transmission has begun to go I believe. I will have a real honest answer Tuesday afternoon, they are going to perform a diagnostics on the mechanical and electrical components at 3 PM. | |

| | I paid my truck off earlier this year, adn have thought about getting a new one a couple of times. Only problem is, to replace it with something similar options wise (4x4, lariat, 4 dr, lift, stereo, etc) I am looking at @ $500-$800 a month, depending on finance terms, length, etc. It doesn't take too long to figure out that fixing one is WAYY CHEAPER than buying a new one. Figure on $500 a month for 12 months, thats $6K a year. you have < $3K in repairs you are talking about. For me, I ma saving for a long block, cuz whne this one goes, I am going ot put a motor in it and keep drviing it. If you have a $600 intake repair, and need an oil pump, I would spend hte money and put a motor and tranny in it and keep the title at the house, instead of at the bank. | |
