It looks like we finally sold our house here in New Hampshire. I know some of you remember that we had the house on the market last year and weren't able to sell it. We took it off the market the beginning of December with a plan to re-list early this spring. Then the ice storm happened on December 12, my Wife's birthday. Lots of trees down, lots of damage to the house. After working through the insurance nightmares we replaced the roof, all 5 skylight windows, 4 picture windows and 3 sliding patio doors. Repairs were completed on July 16th.

We listed the house the following week. Our realtor added the house to the MLS on July 20th at 8:30 AM. We had our first showing at 11:30 AM that same day and got an offer at about 1:00 PM.
Less than 5 hours from listed to sold!

We took a trip down to NC at the end of that week and picked out a house from the list I had been keeping for many, many months. As it stands right now, we should be closing on this house on Aug. 27th. We scheduled the close on the house in NC for Sep. 4, when my Wife gets back from a business trip.

We are looking forward to missing next winter in New England. Our new house is only about 20 minutes from our Granddaughter.

Time to get back to packing.

This time it's 'in the bag', more or less. We'll see when September 4th rolls around.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Congrats, I used to live near Chapel Hill (for about 6 months). Make sure you get to Allen and Sons Barbecue, between Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. Damn fine eatin'.

Here's a picture. We haven't bought it yet, so don't blame me for the questionable taste in statuary.

Congrats.

If you get the house I say keep the yard jockey and name him Mort. You can decorate him with the seasons.

Looks like that house is out. Bad inspection report. We have withdrawn our offer ad made an offer on a different house.

I'll post up more details as they become available.

You can move out here to Cali. I found just the house for you, it's only a couple miles away from my restaurant.

Man, This stuff is so much harder than it should be.

The second house that we put an offer in on was already under contract by the time our offer got presented.

So, we took another trip down to NC this past weekend to continue the search. Only looked at 7 houses this time, and came up with 3 good candidates. The one we decided on is in foreclosure and the bank that owns it is making us jump through hoops before they will even look at our offer. Hopefully, we will hear something from them within the next few days. In the meantime we started working on the mortgage application BS. It looks like the bank needs about 6 weeks before we can close. Guess I'll be staying at my Daughter's house for a while.

It's been a while, almost 15 years, since our last move, but this time seems to be so much harder. Roadblocks around every single corner.
