I have been told by a professional installer that there is some other unit, not made by alpine, needed to produce the proper signal needed to fool the unit.

Jason

perhaps some more insight from a quick google search

Whitestx,

It's called a PAC TR-7

http://www.amazon.com/PAC-TR7-Universal-Trigger-Module/dp/B0002J22BO/

We didn't cover this in our install video, but you might want to check it out anyway for some tips:

http://www.motorz.tv/play/alpine_head_unit_installation

Instructions for it are a bit cryptic, but just refer to feature #2 in the instructions and ignore everything else :)

Welcome back then!

Sounds like a familiar routine... I did exactly the same thing, and I'm not quite sure why I did the car thing again :)

I'm in the market for a car, as soon as I finish a bit of a garage addition, but I'll still be keeping the trucks.
