Any one have info on how to adjust the parking brake on a 2004 Chevy Silverado 4x4 1500 Z1..Mine goes down to floor and if I gas the truck up a little it drives throught the parking brake.Dealer says it is within specs..also IF I change the brakes should I change the parking brake also..

Check to see if you have an adjuster near the rocker panel, if not it's most likely hidden beneath your rear rotor.

If the dealer is telling you your parking brake is fine when it clearly is not take it to a different dealer. That's just not right.

I'm missing something here... You say you can 'drive through the parking brake'. Well of course you can! Ever see anybody power braking? Same thing.

Your putting a whole lotta torque against a brake that's designed to hold the truck still WHEN IT'S PARKED!

To answer your question about having to change the parking brake along with the brakes - yes, you should, if you continue to 'drive through the parking brake'.

If the dealer is telling you that your brakes are within spec, why are you questioning their answer? They are legally implicated if they're telling you the truck is safe when it's not. Stop looking for a different answer.

Driving through the brake is fine. Try finding a steep hill, put the truck in neutral, and see if it holds. If it doesn't, you have a problem. If it does, you're alright. The parking brake on my Chevy G1500 van is pretty light also, but I haven't had a problem with it.
