Whats up guys, its been a while.
It is time for new tires for my F-250, so I'm trying to narrow down my choices. This truck isn't a daily driver, its used to pull the quads around, play on the dunes, and hit the occasional trail or muddy field. The size that I'm looking at is a 38x15.5r20. I'm currently running a set of 38x14.5r16 nitto mud grapplers and I have no rubbing issues, and they are actually around 16" wide...so the 38x15.5's shouldn't be a problem.
I love the nitto mud grapplers, but those tires are ridiculously loud. Obviously all M/T tires will be loud, but these things are the loudest things I have heard besides a set of boggers. They have been great in the sand and mud, but don't do to well on-road...where in reality, this truck spends most of its time (going to and from the dunes or my parents property, with the occasional drive into town or work)
I’m a little limited to choices in that size, so these seem to be like my only options (all prices are approx. from online sources)
Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 38x15.5r20…$438 per tire.

Super Swamper Radial SSR 38x15.5r20…$443 per tire.

Dick Cepek Radial Mud Country…$473 per tire.

Nitto Mud Grappler 38x15.5r20…$480 per tire.

Mickey Thompson Baja Radial MTZ 38x15.5r20 …$490 per tire

Toyo Open Country MT 38x15.5r20…$516 per tire

Overall, they are pretty close in price...so I really don't care about the difference, I just want the best all around tire. Anybody have any experience with any of these tires or suggestions on which one is better and why? Keep in mind that my truck weighs over 8000lbs, and my trailer with the quads and everything is probably 5-6000lbs...so I need something that will hold up to the 4 hour drive to the dunes, but still be soft enough to air down and keep me from digging in really bad in the sand.
Thanks,
Kyle

Hmm...for some reason, all of the pictures I copied from 4wheelparts didn't show up, but I'm sure most of you guys know what those tires look like anyway.

| Go with either the Mickey Thompsons or the Toyo's.
Those Kumho road ventures are a soft compound tire that wear like crap, they cup really easy. I agree the Nitto's are louder than hell, worse than Super Swampers, but an awesome looking tire and they wore pretty well (had them on my truck). | |

| I think I have it narrowed down to either the toyos or mickey thompsons...they have my favorite look, and I have heard a lot of good stuff about both. I have a few calls out now, I'm just waiting to get some prices back. I picked up a set of black XD mosters (20x10) last week, so I'm excited as hell to get them mounted up. I never really liked the hillbilly look of the 16x12 mickey thompson classic II's that came on the truck, so this should make a huge difference in looks.
I couldn't wait to see how it would look, so I did a quick PS of the wheels on my nittos (sorry, I'm a pic whore)
