| That 6100 is a great unit in the $2000ish range.
Your screen is a tad big for it, most people consider the upper limits for the 6100 to be a 123" screen, but if the room doesn't have a lot of stray light it'll be fine.

| | Go ahead and post the pics now Lynn - most people's monitors don't display accurate color anyway! I'm really interested in seeing the new setup! | |

| Dev,
The screen is actually 10 feet X 8 Feet. I was using the full screen with a Barco 701 and it filled it nicely. Only thing is the Barco is a dinosaur next to these new units of today. It works fine but there is no market for it so Im giving it away to a TV shop.
I knew Id be pushing the limits of the Epson with this screen so I took it to 10 Feet X 6.8 Feet or whatever HD 16x9 format came out to be. I just took it to the 10 foot wide mark to fill the width of the screen.
Luckly where I mount the projector (behind the living room wall in a hall closet) it came to barely enough distance away from the screen to fill it. So with the lens as wide as it will go Im actually getting strong light and colors.
When you come into the living room you don't even know there is a theater in there. Only thing is if you look careful enough you see a Small 4X7 inch door flush with the wall and it opens to let the lens peak thru. The Screen is covered buy a curtain that looks like a window curtain treatment. Everything else (Processor, 3 200 Watt Per Channel Power Amps, Sub Amp, Blue Ray DVD player, Laser Disc Player, Tape Player and Direct HDTV box are all inside an Ethan Allen cabinet.
With this type of install I don't loose a room solely dedicated to a theater.

| Tom, Im so busy cleaning up today hiding HDMI wires under the carpet that go to the Projector and clearing the mess with the barco and the mounts I had in the closet etc I dont have time.
My friend is coming back today to help finish with all this and he will be tuning the system for sound and picture. It will be done tonight and I'll shoot some shots of the picture and how I have it set up in the living room.
Im lucky to have this surrogate son of mine who is so talented in this field he is far better than any tech I have ever seen. He has the knowledge to make a TV from scratch, so he is a big help for finding the best equipment in my price range.
Dev was right about the Epson. The 6100 goes for 2000 but my son found it for 1899 with a free mount and free shipping which takes the Epson down to about 1650 if you were to pay for the mount and shipping. http://www.projectorbundles.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=230&HS=1

| OMIGOD...that is sweet.
I gotta get with the 20th century and buy a new TV. My Panasonic 27" is getting long in the tooth. It still has S-video inputs. =)

| Here are just a few I shot last night. Im going to be doing more so you can see all conditions. I have to put someone in front of the screen so you can see how big it really is. But these photos are 10 feet wide and 7 feet high.
Also I tried to shoot when things were not moving so you get a actual sharpness. If you see someone who is not in focus its because that person moved when the shot was done. So look at the stationary things in the shot and you will see the clarity. Also where detail breaks down on TV's is when your on a wide shot. Close ups are always clear so I tried to show you wide shots where the detail is all there. I also shot some color scenes so you can see the rich colors. Hope you like them and there will be more to come.

| Here are a few shots that will give you relationship to the size of the screen.
At the bottom are my full size Golden Retrievers so you can see that whats on the screen is bigger than life.

| Hah! There's the true testimonial on HDTV. It wasn't until we bought our Pioneer 60" plasma that our cat paid attention to what was on the screen. Now, whenever there's something on the screen that offers quick movement or an animal, she stalks across the room and sits in front of the screen - just like Lynn's beautiful dogs.
That's so cool Lynn! | |

| Tom the funniest is watching all 4 of my Golden's watching Snow Buddies.
As you know its about 5 Golden Puppies that get lost and end up in Alaska and make a boys dream come true to race in the Iditarod.
The best part is watching the Boys run across the screen from left to right, chasing the dogs and sled, and then looking behind the cabinet on the right of the screen when the dogs run out of shot camera right.
Its the damnedest thing you ever saw.
Anyway they all watched the entire movie. They have seen it twice now. LOL

| Dev,
I finally measured the screen last night while something was playing in 16 X 9 format in HD It measured out at 142 inches Diagonally.
Im guessing that the reason it is working so well in terms of light and color saturation is because the projector is as close as you can get to the screen and sill barely fill it from left to right (10 feet). The Zoom on the projector lens is in the full wide position.
So now you have further information of the capabilities of this Projector having seen it. I think its cool we proved it goes beyond the stated 123 inches in the reviews. Were 20 inches bigger and that is very much larger over all.

| Dev,
I did have the room darkened but this also works with all the lights on. Im sure not as good as 12,000 lumens as I 0nly have 1800 but its very watchable. Ill put a picture up in those conditions tonight.
It is also very watchable during the day. The only time its not good is when the sunlight directly hits the screen but I dont have that problem thank god. So an afternoon football game is an easy watch.
