| Without giving you an answer that you are even remotely looking for, I do know that turbo pedestals do have problems sometimes, so your dealer isn't trying to shake you.
I'm sure DrSpeed will be along shortly.

| for anyone else that has this problem:
the stock pedestal from ford is over $700.00, BD diesel performance has rebuilt pedestals for under $200.

| the best fix is cut the rod in the pedastal that goes to the ebp device and wire the ebp flapper open . The EBP is simply a fast warm up device for cold days similiar to the flapper old chevy gas engines used to use on one side .

| my pedestal just got here friday. i am looking into replacing the turbo while i have it all apart...i have been researching them.
the stock turbo has 150,000 miles on it. i would really like to replace it while i'm in there. i've been looking at:
-BD thusher-$1200 http://www.xtremediesel.com/bd-power-2.aspx -garrett has an upgrade for $1800 (this one sounds good) http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/products/turbo_kits/ford_powerstroke.html **i like this price range**
i just want a little more throttle response, lower EGT's, and better towing (i tow a work trailer and a jeep up the mountains).
any suggestions?.... | |

| did a little more research...and i ended up returning the rebuilt pedestal and gutting mine. i removed the pedestal, and removed all the guts and plugged the hole the arm went out. then i wire tided the valve wide open. easy and works great!!
next up...i have secured the garrett ball bearing turbo with a banks elbow (that deletes the reason for the pedestal in the first place) and the banks 4" down pipe. think these will go in next weekend.
also i think i am going to step up to the TS 6 possition chip.

| Nice!
Can I convince you to look into a DP Tuner chip instead of the TS chip?
Way more programs, you can purchase and upload them yourself...
...and thanks for the props on the magazine!

| the TS is about $400, the DP is about $800 (with 6 tunes)...is the DP worth double the $$$$? i do like that the selector fits into a gauge bay.
what do you think the differences are that make the DP worth the extra money?

The bonuses is that the DP chip will grow with your truck. If you modify it down the road, or want some new tunes, Jody can email them to you, and you can upload them yourself to the chip! Saves you have to remove it, mail it, drive it stock (horrible), wait, wait, and then get it back again.
The tunes run cooler and more efficient than the TS ones.
But hey, do some research, and see what people think. I'm just one resource!
