I have concern about my Electronic 4-wheel drive. When engaged and working it (accelerating or going up hill), a hard pounding sensation occurs in the transfer case region. I would normally just live with it, but with the freak snow storms in Seattle have pushed me to look further into it.
I have a thought as to when it occurred in case it makes any difference.. Last winter I got my truck submerged in snow to where the chasis was level with the snow level. As I recall, I was still in 4-wheel drive when I had a friend's family tow it out backwards with a snow cat. A family member thinks that towing it backwards while in 4-wheel may have stripped something in the transfer case, I thought I'd ask for advice from the forum before spending money on a diagnosis. Thank you!

It's not the T-case - the are pretty stout.
I bet you have some slop in your driveshaft.
I'd start by pulling off your front driveline, and dropping it off at a shop for a check up or a rebuild. Could be a bad u joint, double cardan ball, or a bent shaft.
From there, I'd check the front axle u joints as well.
4-wheel clicking.. hard
