Auto Enginuity.
bout 12 months or so ago - I had a intermittent electrical problem on the F250 7.3 PSD.
The sympton was 4 cylinders on one bank would cut in and out without warning every time I hit a bump in the road.
To diagnose it I had to buy a Auto Enginuity software package from the company in USA supplied with a connector to attach to the plug under the dash below the steering wheel & connect to the laptop with a usb connection.
I also had to buy the Ford unlock code as well and I recall in total it cost quite a lot bye the time I got it here and the exchange rate etc.. (~1000?)
I had to buy it because there was no Ford dealership within 500 miles in any direction from me and the local diesel fitters & auto electricians couldn't figure out what the heck was the problem even tho I told them it was a short in the orange wire in the 9 wire harness on that bank which is the high voltage common return between the Injector Drive Module and Injectors & ECM.
Mechanics and electrical eggspurts as a generalisation round these parts don't seem to like listening to owners of vehicles about what might be wrong - they never know as much as an egggspurt..
So - after they eventually bought a new Injector Drive Module ($1500)and ripped my harness to shreds so it now looks like a cockatoos nest made of insulation tape, they got it working again (and only charged $5 grand for the effort go figure!).
My trouble is this:-
When taking it between the various shops working on it (3 in total before anyone could even find what was wrong) I seem to recall thinking to myself - "I better hide that auto ingenuity connector somewhere here inside the cab so no one of the various mechanics etc decides to steal it".
I think I did such a good job of hiding it, that now some 12 months later - I can't for the life a me remember where I put it and I've torn that cab apart looking!
I remember I was driving at the time...and put it somewhere with one hand like inide the console or under my seat or something.
One of the places where it went, the owner had a new F truck he'd just bought, so maybe they did find it and keep it - I don't know.
All Iknow is I can't diagnose my truck anymore even tho I have the laptop - coz i can't find the dang connector.
Can you buy just a new connector without paying the whole $1000 odd Oz $ that the whole shebang cost last time?
I know that - once I buy one, the old one will turn up somewhere inside that damn truck...
But sure as eggs If I don't have the connector something else will go wrong and I won't be able to figure out what it is.
Many thanks in advance if anyone knows where to get one!
Dear sirs - I have lost (had stolen by a mechanic working on my truck) my Auto Enginuity Scan Tool OBD-II connector. I bought the package including software and unlock code for my Ford F 250 within the last 12 months online from you, to diagnose a fault.
Unfortuately, the truck was sent to 3 different repairers - and by the time I got it back fixed some 5 months later, my connector was missing from the vehicle. (I presume stolen).
Is it possible please for me to purchase just a replacement connector?
Can you advise me if this can be done online thu you and how much it would cost please?
I still have my software and unlock code loaded onto my laptop, so just need the connector, to be able to continue to diagnose my truck should it everbreak down again.
Many thanks in advance. Yours Sincerely, etc

You can purchase the hardware stand-alone but it won't work with any enhanced options. Your older connector was the security key for the product. Without that your enhanced won't work anymore. The replacement hardware is only 200 USD. Not sure that will do you much good though. Jay Horak
