what name brand remote starters are you guys using for remote starters? I would like to put one in my 2005 Chevy Duramax 3500 4X4 truck. Does GM make one as a aftermarket accessory for a plug and play? About what is the price for these? How much splicing and wiring if it isn't a plug and play? I know this is a lot of questions but I figure this is the place to get the correct answers. thanks

You can find wiring harnesses for many vehicles that take a lot of the hassles out of the install. I got a harness adapter for my '02 S'Crew that handled all the under-dash connections. Just needed to connect a wire under the hood for the tach sensor. Found mine by accident at Pep-Boys, but they are online as well.

My remote starters are in my alarm package. I have Viper Alarm systems for both my trucks and the remote starts work flawlessly.

I have the Model 790XV in Elvira which works withing 1/4 of a mile and I have the Model 5900 (which is newer)in Big Bird which works as far as 1 mile away.

I hadn't heard about a wiring adapter, so I tried doing one following the directions. After a whole day of nothing but frustration, I decided to pay to have it done. Money well spent.

I used Autopage, I think, on my old truck. Never had a problem, and it wasn't very expensive.

I've got the Compustar alarm / starter for my diesel rig - works with a manual transmission too.

It's the Model: CompuStar Pro P2W9000FMR, and that's good up to 3,000 feet.

Something plug and play is the new Blade from Compustar:
