My F750's turbo just went out AGAIN and my truck is up near in N. Cal near Redding. There's really no where around to have my driver get it checked out immediately and I've got some deliveries I have to make today. I told him to keep going since it's still drivable but in order to make the deliveries and get home it's going to be about 500 miles!

What to do?! Could I do some damage going like this for that long?

Check out the latest parts and accessories from Truck Hownd

It's an International but basicly the Ford 6.0L.

It's up at a shop in Corning, N.Cal. Still haven't got word as to WTF is wrong, looking like the fuel pump(s).

Til then I've got a rental Penske and a $450 tow bill

I'd say that Ford has a tow bill, but the F-650/750 warranty is different, isn't it?

6.0L :(. Too many people got hurt on those. Thank goodness for the twin turbos. Everything seems to be going good so far. Since they don't catch the truck or car next to you on fire anymore, lol. Hopefully they don't have issues as they get older. I've heard you have to pull the cab to pull them, though. I'm not thinking this is entirely correct. I heard it from a guy I know who custom ordered and 08 as early as possible. He was the first to have one in the area for sure. It's nick named the Tonka Truck, too. Lifted and lockers and *. Gets about 7 mpg and only has like a 25 gallon tank though. I know this for a fact because I went to MO with him and we almost ran out of fuel, and I filled it up. They aren't all like this, but this particular truck is. Damn short boxes! I wish you could still get an 8' box in srw! I have one and I'm not letting go of it! Of course it's an 88 lol.

Dude, I'm Derek Dallege.

That's all you wanted to ask me Dr.Speed?

BTW, in case anyone is thinking I am an idiot because they still make crew cab long boxes in srw, I have been made aware. I could have sworn they didn't because I never see them anymore. Also, when I was building a truck on Ford's website for fun, it wouldn't let me have one. Must have been some other option that was the problem. I will never understand why so many people get a short box, though. It's not like it makes a lot of difference in the turning radius, or where your truck will or won't fit.

Well get this!

I was just going to respond to this old post just to tell the turbo was fine and it ended up being the computer went bad and had to wait a month to get the new computer since it's a Ford with an International engine.(rare)

Well as I'm typing this an hour ago my driver comes running in my office and tells me somethings wrong with it.

Walk out there and the damn POS is pouring out white mist out the exhaust reeking of coolant and the temp gauge is bouncing all over the place!

I'm so fng done with this POS. Thank god it's still under warranty and just got dropped off at the dealer for the millionth time. Only 50k on this damn thing.

I thought the VT365 was supposed to have fewer problems than the 6.0 because its all Navistars computer gear and programming etc? And dont they use a non VG turbo?

Well it will be a bit until it gets tore into, all the dealers have closed around here so this ones service dept is packed.

Without even looking at it yet the head mechanic said it's most likely something to do with the EGR.

How does the coolant have anything to do with the EGR, am I missing something?

I was wondering the same thing but then again I know nothing about black smoke engines.

No doubt it was coolant misting out, it was heavy.

Wow that really sucks. I don't suppose it being under warranty is much consolation considering you are gonna have to wait a while to get it fixed, and that it is used for a business on a daily basis. Not like you can just drive your other truck or your car...

GOOD LUCK

egr cooler let loose ruptured internally .. one of three things can cause this air in the coolant ... a restriction in the coolant flow thru the engine oil cooler .. or overheating. we have 2 in the shop this week for this and at navistar we generally end up changing the oil cooler as well and flushing the cooling system and all new coolant.

as for other questions the 365 uses a VG turbo oil controlled . as for the ecm issue I have one in my garage at home ..lol and your truck is not rare all 650 and larger units with the v8 diesel are runing the navistar version

Well everything kinda worked out. Once I got the POS back from the dealer it was running fine and 2 of the other big contractors at my place trucks went out so while their trucks were out for a week I got 3 times the workload aka 3 times the money so it all happened at a perfect time. lol Ballin next check woohoo!
