I'm sure most of the members on this site remember the famous 'NEMESIS' custom Hot Rod truck built by Rick Federmeyer.... Well, I'm the one that bought it at the Barrett-Jackson auction a few years ago... I bought it for a client on the phone, he didn't know what lot number he wanted, all he knew was 'there's a nice mid 50's hot rod truck there that I want!' ... I thought the NEMESIS was the best truck there, ... so I bought it!!! Turns out, this wasn't the truck he wanted... My client loved it when he saw it but doesn't use it, he does't want it any longer, he has too many hot rods and exotic vehicles. I've been the one to take it to a few hot rod shows in my trailer since I bought it for him... For the most part, it just sits with a cover in a dark garage. I just put in a new battery yesterday, fresh gas and drove it down the street and back to the garage... This truck is so fine, attracts such attention when seen and deserves to be 'out there' in view of all the truck owners to appreciate!!! So, it's for sale.....

I personally think that Rick should have made much more money on this truck considering the amount of work, money and love that he's invested in the truck!!! It's been in 37 magazines!!! Won more awards than any other hot rod truck in history!!

At my client's request I have the truck for sale... I'm starting here with this Truckblog site because of all the websites found with stories and information on this truck, 'YOU GUYS & LADIES' have had the best comments, opinions, remarks and 'Love' for this NEMESIS than anywhere in the world... I'd buy it from my client and keep it for my selfish self, if I had the room to keep another vehicle and time to show this truck... It doesn't matter how many times people have seen it... the truck still takes your breath away with it's craftmenship, and beauty!!! This link will tell you more about it if you don't remember or haven't seen it... The website if from Extreme Metal & Paint, INC.... http://www.extrememetalandpaint.com/index.php?page=nemesis ...

At this time, I'm tossing it out there to get 'opinions, offers, bids' on the truck... Rick and his friends spent 10,000 hours to build the truck ... It's truely a work of art!!! I know what we have in it at this point... I'm honestly hoping that the truck will bring about $150,000 or more... From that amount it will get free enclosed shipping within the lower 48 states, all of the history of the truck, some magazines, photos, some trophys, etc... I'm also going to send a nice healthy check to Rick Federmeyer as a gift since I think the truck should have brought more at the auction. If you've never met Rick, you want to add that to your 'list of things to do someday' ... I met him the day he handed the keys to me and explained everything about the truck... He's the kind of guy everyone should have as a friend!!!

Let me know what you all think... The truck is available to see in person with an appointment... It's in the San Diego area... It's had approximately 30 miles put on it since I drove it out of the auction tent several years ago...

Here's your opportunity to own one of the finest hot rod trucks ever built, it would cost someone over $500,000 to duplicate it and years to get these type of awards and trophys!!! I'm entertaining offers...

Wow - talk about a blast from the past. I know Nemesis (I've drooled on it a number of occasions) and I know Mr. Federmeyer as well. He's actually a registered member here at Truckblog although he hasn't been around in a while. Ever since he went MOPAR his attentions have been drawn elsewhere.

I have to say that Nemesis is truly a work of art and the quality of work that Rick put into it is the best. I think the part of Nemesis that strikes me the most is that Rick completed the truck as a tribute to his brother.

Unfortunately I'm not in a position to bid on the truck. If there were any way I could afford it - that enclosed trailer would be delivering that work of art to DuPont, Washington. Knowing that truck is under a cover in a dark garage just kills me!

Good luck in your search for a buyer. I'll try to find some pictures I took of it at the Seattle Roadster Show a few years ago and post them up here.

...I always wondered what happened to that truck.

Rick is mean and makes fun of short people.

Seriously though... Amazing truck, amazing story, and Rick's an amazing cat.

Thanks for coming here to post that. You'll get lots of feedback here.

I am another one who has drooled over Rick's truck and I can say that I have had the pleasure of speaking to him at the SEMA show a few times.

Hard to believe your client doesn't want this vehicle any longer.

whosthatcowboy - to post pics here all you need to do is have the pics somewhere on the web (or create a gallery here). Then you'll need to copy the location from the picture properties. Then, when creating your post, click on the button above the text box that looks like a yellow square with mountains in it (it says insert image when you hover over it). It will put image tags in your text box. Click in between the two tags and paste the picture location there.

There's a test forum - go play around with it. It's pretty easy once you've done it once or twice.

I'll tell you a story about Rick. I went up to his shop (after hours) to get his opinions on a truck I was building (since wrecked). After he agreed to paint it for free, he showed me around the shop and Nemesis, which he was getting ready for Barrett-Jackson. The thing was already better than 90 percent of the vehicles that roll across the stage. He'd roll up to a big show, park it, walk away, and win best in show, and all he did was wash it the day before. But Rick had to have it perfect for the whoever was going to buy it. That's the kind of cool dude he is.

But what really impressed me was that he had it on the lift, and three of the four brackets that hold the running boards up were bent. That was from bottoming it out in normal driving. He put about 30,000 miles on it after it was done, driving it all over. The thing got 24 miles per gallon on the highway with a carbureted 302. Just an impressive truck, and it was driven all the time.

But then he got a Dodge, got married, and that's the end of him.

When you saw the Nemesis on the lift, I'm sure that you noticed the underside of that truck is every bit as beautiful at the top side!! Rick did a *in job on that truck!!! It only shows 200 miles on the trip meter.... and not much more than that on the odometer... I think it was hauled on a trailer more than it was driven considering how clean and nice it is underneath... I've had it at the Goodguys show in Del Mar and it attracted a nice crowd of people... I was stuck in the last building at the furthest point for the show and people still made the walk back there to see that truck... It looks way cool sitting on the ground!!!!

I showed my truck with rick and Nemesis. Its a beautiful truck.

Rick is a great guy too.

I thought I remembered it selling for 80 or 85K at Barrett Jackson.

150 would be a hefty profit.

Thanks Tom in Tacoma for the image edit!!!
The actual hammer price on the truck at Barrett-Jackson didn't include the 'juice' that Barrett-Jackson adds, an additional 8%, then there's shipping, taxes, etc.... All of that adds up very fast!!! The Nemesis sold for way under it's real value since it ran just before 'prime time' ... Prime Time at Barrett-Jackson gets the live TV coverage and a lot more money for the vehicles.. If the truck brings $150,000 ... I'm also paying for enclosed shipping to a new owner... If you know the truck.... you know it's worth a lot more than that!!! We all know that another one couldn't be built for that!!
If there's anyone that hasn't seen the Nemesis in person and they have that desire... just let me know when you're in the San Diego area and I'll take you to see it...

You all miss me??Well I'm still alive and kickin. I got this e-mail from Tom and could not believe that my old truck was parked in a garage under some blanky chillin!I wish I had the funds to buy her back but I just bought a house.....Arghh!!Yup we moved in the last bit of stuff over the weekend.I was in the middle of the move when my boss Chris told me that Tom had sent me an e-mail about Nemesis and that she only had been driven some 30 miles since Steve Lyman purchased her......what a bummer.....that truck needs to be drivin!!Steve called me a few times and said that they could never figure out how to get her to ride down the road right and I tried to explain how easy it was?I should have told him to fly my ass down there and give him a first hand looksie on just how easy Nemesis is to drive and kick some import but at the same time!I sure hope someone picks her up and uses her like I did.Oh and by the way,I trailered Nemesis to two shows and that was the only time she ever saw a trailer. The first time was when she was first shown at the Good Guys show at Puyallup. The rear end through a pinion seal on the way.....and the second time was when she went to the PPG nationals at Columbus Ohio where she won the Coddington pros pick and finalist for truck of the year 2005.Other than that Nemesis was driven to every show and get together I was at.The reason she was so clean all the time is because I spent most of my free time taking care of every little nick and scrape.Nemesis was also driven just for the hell of it....beer runs, gettin groceries and yes it did see rainy days!
Any how I did not jump ship.....just took a little break in the action so I could focus on getting a house. And I have a real truck now.....one that I actually have to climb up into and fill up with lots of gas and and tons of crap in the bed. It's not a new rig but it suits my needs for now. What is it you ask?........A Chevy 2500 Silverado extended cab.....yes I own a Chevy.....and yes it's a 4x4....oh it gets better....it has a canopy! And the ugliest wheels that God created.....soon to be ditched for anything but them.I'll post some pics in a bit.Scott, I did not get married yet but I'm going to here shortly to the same cute little gal that you have all have seen a pic of.Now that we have a house my time is short as a free man....not that I've been a free man for the last few years....well you know what I mean.
Ok I have said enough......except that I sure hope that truck sells for a tidy sum,We sure could use a little cash for some re-modeling Ha,Ha,Ha!!!

I was hoping that Rick would come out of hiding and respond to this posting!!!! Hey Rick... I'll stand by my posting and toss a little more money your direction if we can get the Nemesis to bring the kind of money it should have brought at Barrett-Jackson .... I'm the one that bought the truck for Steve... I've driven it more than Steve... I love that truck!!!!!! I was amazed at how clean it was underneath when I loaded it on the top floor of my transporter... I've had it on display with mirrors showing how clean the belly is... Everyone down here that's seen it say the same thing... 'Did that guy ever drive it?' When they see the photos of all the trophies they figure that it's 'been places' ...
I'm glad that you popped in on the blog to add to it... You're welcome to give me a call any time you like... if you get down here to San Diego we'll get the Nemesis out and go 'spank her' ... But if you get it dirty underneath you'll have to stay and help me clean her!!! Let me know if you still have my number... if not I'll give it to you again... Spread the word to help find a new home for the Nemesis... I'll take care of the transportation and your bonus... or maybe you'll get to drive the truck to the new owner!!! It is for sale.. and reasonable offers are always considered... For all the trophys, awards and shows that it's won... I think it's worth a lot more!!! Good to see you on the boards!!!

Hey there Rick! Was wondering if that email every went anywhere except the ol' bit-bucket.

It's good to hear from ya again. You really ought to visit here more often - truck or no truck. Some of us (no names mentioned because the list it too long) don't have trucks anymore but that's beside the point.

Glad to hear all is well with you. Now go post up!

Reasonable offers are always considered .... Big offers are always appreciated.... and ... Rick could use a little more $$$ since he got his new home... Let me know if anyone wants to come see the Nemesis in person....

That's a great idea.... what are the show dates?? Do I need to preregister for the show?? Who do I contact?? Maybe I should go on tour with the Nemesis .... Maybe Rick would make special appearances and sign autographs.... and some of the other 'fans' would show up to say Hi ...
Thank you for the idea of going to Orange Country... Let me know a few more details please...
