It looks like you're going to visit your Internet pen pal in the Womens Correctional Facility.

Not sure what the cart is for, but I have an idea what the glove is all about.

I bet you don't go anywhere without those gloves. How do you brush your teeth with them on?

You were moving your massive TS/TV porn collection to a climate controlled storage, complete with scotchguarded lazy boy and magazine rack?

Well I like screwd up's guess.

But it does seem to be self storage which would account for the cart and the gloves if its something heavy or oily.

Some pretty "good" guesses there, but Lynn hit the nail on the head!

Yesterday Jason and I moved load #1 to a self storage place nearby. Basically, it's all the junk in the garage that was being stored on hanging shelves, stacked on top of cabinets, etc. We just got tired of shooting Truckblog.TV around it, so soon the Truckblog.TV garage will be cleaned up and lookin' a lot better for our videos.

Here's a teaser shot (notice the empty shelves and a strategically-placed prop?)

These boxes are now gone as well:

Just trying to decide if I should lose the shelf and move that cabinet up to the ceiling like the others beside it.

Got any ideas for what we could do in the garage to make it more studio like?

Minimize background clutter and distractions as much as possible. Get rid of any extraneous shit (like you were already doing) and those $20 Home Depot standing cabinets and stuff like that.

I tend to see two things in the studio garages on TV:

1) Lack of shit
- or -
2) High-end/professional items (tools, cabinets, etc.).

You seem to be really good at getting sponsors to give you stuff you don't deserve for free ;) (only half kidding, you deserve the stuff). Talk to some cabinet companies, tool companies, etc and see if they will give/loan you stuff. I would expect you could get a local Snap-On or Matco guy to loan you a nice rolling tool chest or tool rack for a few shoots. Same thing goes for some of those custom garage cabinet companies.

I agree... first step is to get rid of the clutter, which should be done for the most part this week. The cabinets are going to be quite a bit harder to replace, and believe me they were more than $20 lol. The good thing is they are white, so they blend in with the walls and are not distracting in the videos.

I'm all for talking with a company about tool sponsorship, but the trick is finding a contact at a company. Cold calls are very difficult to get anywhere. I think they'd be interested too... these videos are all over the intarweb (iTunes and a dozen or more video hosting sites) and getting some good air play.

Well, Truckblog.TV fans... today was a long day of playing garage clean-up. Load #2 went to the storage place, and I'm happy to say that there are no longer any hanging shelves off he ceiling or walls. It's very clean, and we'll have a lot more room to move around and shoot because of it. Also, we've got something else in the works over the next few days and probably a good part of this weekend that will make a huge difference as well... more to come...

BTW, Brian, tonight Jason and I reviewed the popular automotive shows on YouTube and found that most of them had a ton of garbage in the background... trays, cabinets, misc. tools lying around, etc... very messy. I think the cleanest was Horsepower TV. They should take your advice...

Interesting. I don't watch a whole lot of TV, so you probably have way more experience than I do. My memory of the various studio garages is that they were fairly neat and bright, and didn't have a lot of background clutter. I'll look closer next time.

I did the same thing to get Big Bird into the garage with Elvira.

Think I have a little larger area however. Now Im thinking of selling all the stuff in there as I really dont use any of it any more. Ive got a complete photographic studio in there with painted backgrounds and a medium format camera plus a complete underwater camera system. Nikonos. Ac Generator and a whole lot more.

well I talked to James "Mud" about it a few days ago, but I forgot to email you or post up about it.. and he didnt know who you could contact either.. out of people he already knows.. but he could personally set you up on some pretty sweet deals..

if you didnt know he is a snap-on franchisee.. normally they arent suppose to work out of their area, but he'd do it for you Duke.. he would even be willing to give you a huge discount on this box he has been saving that you can't buy anymore.. he never used it, he just got it years ago and left it in his garage.. it is the one covered with the bald eagle and the american flag graphics.. he knows very well I wanted to get it from him next year maybe.. but we agreed it would look great in your garage..

if your interested, I could send you his latest email, or I could email you his cell #.. you wouldnt get it free but he'd give you a hell of a deal..

and yes Ive ridden around with him on his route and I was trying to get a route for myself.. but there werent any available in the central texas area..

Now there's a character I haven't seen in yeaarrrrrrs. Tell James I said Hi. What's he driving these days? Same big ol' lifted white F150?

I'm looking for a box that doesn't have any graphics on it, so that doesn't look like it would fit the bill. Either something that's all black, silver, or red. I've got an old contact that makes some really high end ones (polished stainless steel) and I'm hoping I can get something going with him when we speak next week.
