Since ftw cut some of us off with no warning...I'll start my thread up again here. Btw..nice of you people here to provide some answers. Im starting to see what all the animosity to that site is all about. Ive only been a member over there since early 06. Anyhow when I started this topic we were at $4.79 a gallon for diesel and the high $3's for 87 here in So Cal. Things leveled out for a couple weeks and we got to $4.84.Today I saw 2 stations with posted signs @ $4.95..a new high...and only 5 cents away now. Problem is I believe we may see upwards of $6-$8 a gallon with no end in sight.

Premium is showing up here in Los Angeles at 4.49 at some stations.

Im still finding it at the lowest price for premium at 4.09 or 4.03 if you have cash but that wont last long.

considering the $4+ per gallon premium, I'd rather have the buttkiss and continue to pay for my own damn health Insurance

This thread doesn't exactly seem like a countdown to $5.00 a gallon, does it? Besides - wouldn't it be a 'countup'?

Technicality really. Its a count up to 5 bucks but counting down the days. I agree that this is over the top. I mean how does the below average person with a family survive. I am bairly making it, I mean scraping by. I dont know how some of these lower income familys are doing it.

Come on...you know what I mean. Its a countdown in terms of time left before were paying 5 something a gallon for f-ing gas. Anyway, were almost there here in my area. Same station that had diesel yesterday for $4.95 is at $4.99 9/10 today. Regular is at $3.95 at that station. All the stations in my neighborhood have gone up 40 cents in the last 10 days. What it boils down to is the government has found a way for us to pay down the national deficit for them. Nice of them to send some poor people a stimulas package rebate check. It'll help them pay their tax's at the pump.

1/10th of a cent to go. Then the countdown-up to $6 starts. rant over

I found a way too beat the gas prices...

Get a job with a vehicle that you can take home, and they pay for the gas.

Of course, because of gas prices, I haven't gone more than 40 miles away on the weekends with my truck since Christmas.

Countdown to $6 per gallon has now started as were at $5.09 for diesel as of today in sunny southern California. Yikes..were all screwed. I saw on the news this morning that gas well definitely reach $6 to $7 in the coming months. Not sure why I started this topic really..seeing as there's nothing we can do about it. Just an observation I guess.

There is something we can do about it, we can stay home this Memorial day weekend, but I bet every major highway going to the usual vacation spots will be jammed with people. Also I think everyone could curb their spending to just necessaries leaving more money for gas?IDK?
