Gang, This weekend was a weekend of firing up the farm machines to get them ready for working on the road for another year.
Our 77 highboy 150 blew a fuel line AND a metal brake line.
Our 85 250 blew a metal brake line
our 70 something dump truck blew a fuel line
needless to say we had a rough weekend of trying to find replacement fuel lines and fittings, and none of the stores are open past 1:30 on sat, and dont even open on sunday
So today on the way home I stopped at advance, picked up various assortments of fuel lines, this will cover the fuel line issues
HOWEVER For brake line issues I was thinking of doing the following: We got 2 lengths of hard line from the auto store, since I will never be able to make the same bend the truck HAD, I was going to cut the brake tube, and use some rubber brake line over the tube with a hose clamp, same thing on the other side.
The auto parts store does not have rubber brake hose that will fit over the hard brake line. Question: Does anybody sell this stuff or should I go to a hydro facility and check with them?
I wish i kept my old brake lines, DOH!
thanks, Ken

| Would the fittings attaching the hoses be able to hold the pressure if they were not professionally connected? TA | |

| | Brake line pressure is extremely high. You can get mini tubing benders for quite cheap and use a flare tool to make the ends. | |

| You need high pressure fittings to keep the rubber lines attached to the metal lines. A rubber hose with a screw clamp will blow off.

| thanks for the info gang.... I will try to do everything in metal but it may be tough to get those bends
Ill check a hydo place by me too. Again, this is for farm trucks that barely ever need to "stop"

| A few things you could do. Stop where you need to make the bend. Flair it and add fittings and then buy a pre-bent tube and connect it to the pipe. Then flair and add fitting to the next part of pipe and continue on. Make your own bend or use rubber hose with the fittings already on the hose.
