I have a '01 F150 King Ranch that I am trying to get a little bit more mpgs out of and it wouldnt hurt to boost the power a bit. I want to know if it is worth it to drop the 400 on the programmer to get what i want.

Check out the latest parts and accessories from Truck Hownd

It you're contemplating spending $400 on a programmer - consider how much of an improvement in MPG you're going to need to repay the purchase price. It's going to take a long, long time indeed.

Generally, modifications don't pay for themselves unless you're committed to using them for an extended period of time.

Short answer, probably not.

I have an Xcalibrator II for my '05. I ordered it with a 93 octane performance program, an 87 octane performance and an 87 octane mpg program. I had been running the 87 performance program which does 'feel' a little better than than OEM, mostly in shifting. nice firm shifts.

I used the MPG tune on a long trip last year and got about 3 tenths of an mpg better mileage. Not as much as I was expecting, and I did notice the difference in performance. Not worth it, IMHO.

The last time I took the truck in to the dealer for service, I returned the computer to stock. I haven't bothered to re-load the tunes since then. My mileage has gone up, just a few tenths, but still. And I have not really noticed any difference in performance.

Bottom line, I think I wasted $400 on my tuner.

If you really want to improve your mpg, driving habits can improve that much more than any tuner can.

Yeah ive looked into how long itll take to pay for itself and i think i figured it to be like a year or two and thats a good while but i will be drivin this truck until it wont run so thatll happen eventually
Driving habits are slowly changing i no longer accelerate like im racin and thats helped a little. What about that Fitch Fuel Catalyst? Anyone own one?

I don't own the Fitch. I would think that even if you did get an improvement in MPG from it, the payback period would be just as long.
