http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/03/audis-diesel-de.html#more . why is it that audi can build a 500hp diesel that gets 20mpg and international, cummins and all other diesel focused companies cannot do this? Do not tell me price. when ford sells something around 400k superduties a year that is considered mass production, dropping the price.

because they don't have the oil industry over there breathing down thier throats!
there have been alot of people who have mastered ways to make gas cars go well over 60 mpg but the oil and auto makers shut them down from ever producing one unless they say so!

over seas they don't have pressure from oil industry or auto makers either.

Forget about the diesel, that has probably the best looking interior I've seen in a long time.

And you say to not talk about price, but I'm gonna. How do you like them apples? The admittedly low production VW Toureg V10TT diesel sold for something like $20,000 more than the regular one (no fact checking here). Now, if they had built 400,000 of them, sure, the price would've dipped. But would it dip to the $6000 premium like the current turbo diesels? I doubt it seriously.
