I want everyone to think back about 6 months ago.... Did any of you ever think that there would come a day where Dale JR would be a unanimous pick to win a race?

Right now the first 5 participants have posted him as the winner of this years Daytona 500. Good for him because he deserves it.

BUT let me also ask if all of you guys think he will be able to keep it up once the real season starts?

I didn't get to see his Gatorade race but he had a lot of help in the Bud Shootout by his team mates to win that race. I do not discount his driving skills but I hope his true fans are not dissapointed once the "Hendricks" Boys get in race mode and it becomes every man for himself.

It would seem that Hendricks and JR were using these first 2 races to make a statement to DEI and the racing world - "I can win with the right team and car." But They were perfect races for Rick to put JR in the winners seat without sacrificing his other drivers egos and chase standings.

We will see.

Once again I am not hating on JR. I'm just wondering out loud.

I actually did see it as a possibility.

It was pretty apparent last year with something like 7 DNFs, 6 to blown motors, that he is either a REALLY shitty driver in terms of the car, or his team cannot produce the caliber cars he needed.

Even before knowing what team he would go to, it was very apparent things would get better...he flat out said he wanted a team with competing more in mind...that shows how bad it must have been for a polite southern boy to speak out about his own team (hes not a loudmouth).

When I heard he went to Hendrix...hell yeah I thought he would win. Unbelievable dedication to winning there...its like playing for the yankees a few years back. Yes, I do think in a lot of these races coming up, he will be up front battling his own teammates...however, leading up to the end of each race, you can bet your ass they are going to be working together to get to the front of the line...a place he never made it with teammates help last year.

I am not going to pick him for a win every race...but i think he will be a front runner again. And after the shootout, being that this race is on the same track, I may be another one that has him as my top pick.
