| I would be all over the GMC except for the frighteningly underbuilt front axles. IFS has no place on a heavy duty truck, in my opinion. All my experience with the Duramax trucks has been positive.
Any newer Fords I don't have confidence in, even though when the 6.0 is running right its a great engine. The Dodges I love, and I could deal with the shitty interior because the exterior and engines are so great.

I can deal with the dodge interior if i know these issues were something they can resolve but these guys have said its really driving them nuts and alot are not pleased with the motor and the regen stuff. And as for the ifs, well that might just mean a conversion up front. Just have to research and plan, its all part of the truck buying game right |

| I would buy a Ford Diesel but I wouldn't go newer than 2003 because thats when the started installing the 6.0 liters
The GM's are freakin running trucks but they are a little pricey still I think. If you plan on pulling it the wheels have a tendency to toe on HARD actually all the way almost BUT they do sell sleeves to fix this problem.
Dodge the only thing I like about them is the Cummins. But thats about it. | |

| Denny what is with this shit......... , I expected at least a PULL IT from you. I was expecting a little more from you being into diesels as you are, to include your job. The kicker to this delema is that it has to be new. If I land this job i am applying for, the benny of the car payment is only good if the truck/car is under three years old and under 60,000 miles. So something brand new is best for me. If I did not have to worry about it, I would be looking for a 5.9 dodge or a 12 valve |

Hahaha…wanted to see what kind of reaction I’d get. Apparently a pretty good one. I thought it’d be easier to discuss this over the phone with you, but here goes.
Buy a Dodge.
You want to modify it, that’s the way to go. If you can, get the 04.5-07 one with the 5.9 and a six speed G56. Throw a couple fueling boxes on it, and a clutch, and you’re ready to rock and roll. Even with a stock turbo, you’re looking at 450 hp to the ground. The shortcomings so far are just the weak-ish front axles on the Dodges, even though it is a solid axle. Lifts are easy, as you can drop in an 8” Rize kit, and clear 37’s easy.
The Ford, not too many people making big power from the 6.4’s yet. The compound turbo setup from the factory is nice, but no one has been able to take advantage of them yet. Although some tuners have been able to make some smoke with custom programming to delete the DPF, and not cause any fault codes, there aren’t any big numbers.
The GM products, although nice, won’t fit your budget. You don’t have the ability to SAS it, because you won’t have a car, and it’s not an overnight job. If you can, that’d be the truck that I’d choose. DMax’s pull hard, are able to make 480 to the ground through 38’s and stock EVERYTHING. I tuned my buddy’s truck on his dyno…all it took was 5 hours of time.
So, there you have it. It’s your dough, you gotta make the big boy decision!

| That is the type of info I was looking for. I hate to admit it but I have been looking at gmc for a while. The design is growing on me. I know I will need sleeves or find replacement rod ends that are stronger. This is not going to be an overnight build and most likely be only taken hard core after the three years, when I have the chance to get a second ride. But I would like to lift it and fit 37s. That way I dont have to get too crazy with a hitch system for pulling. Any one have recomendations for lifts?
