I have a 99 f-250 SD and it HAD a Superchips brand chip in it since Dec.2002....Since then it's been just as expected.
Well, friday (Jan. 18 2008) something changed and I began having problems with the truck that morning. Bucking, surging, starving for fuel I assumed then it "fixed itself"(ARRRGH!!!)...Then it did it again later in the day and had to have it towed home!! then it fixed itself again! I figured out that it would act up after 15-20 minutes of run time consistently. Driving , idling, didn't matter
Well fuel presure checked out fine so its not the fuel system..it was a spark thing...ok kinda out of my league to diagnose...But i thought "the chip" so i removed the chip from the computer and it has ran fine since! DOH!!
Any ideas on a 7 yr old chip and issues like this. Anybody else have similar problems?
Extra info...it was quite rainy and damp a few weeks ago then this past week it turned pretty cold..teens and single digit temps. could condensation or the like screw something up? contacts need cleaned? etc.
It looks like superchips warranty is only 1 year thru the website but my warranty card that came with the chip states no time limit that I can find. How is there customer service?

Any help or ideas would be appreciated cuz I do like the way the truck runs with the chip installed but if its gonna do the truck bad then its outta here.

Eric

Yeah, try that. Make sure it is free from any moisture.

Then contact this member:

He works for Superchips, and has answered questions on this forum before.

I tried contacting the SuperChips guy at the onset of this post but ya hafta be a "premium member" to PM him... which I am not.
Thats kinda why I included the name "SuperChips" in my post title hoping he would see it and chime in. (Didn't work though)

Thanks for all yer help though.

I will probably wait til it gets a lil warmer to reinstall it cuz if it screws up it again it will probably happen at the most inopportune time...like rush hour traffic in the dark and snowing! lol
