I'm thinking about getting one just to see how it compares to Chris' iPhone.

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/10/03/verizons-lg-voyager-heads-up-newly-official-fall-lineup/
"Verizon isn't kidding around this fall, with four new fashionable phones, a couple of which might divert a few iPhone dollars from archrival AT&T. It's those exact four that Engadget Mobile got the scoop on last weekend, the Juke, Pearl, Venus and Voyager. A few of the details have changed, but the basic gist is the same. The Samsung Juke is the first "flick" phone to hit the States, and arrives with 2GB of built-in storage, A2DP (which shows up in all these phones) and a VGA camera, and comes in blue, red or teal. Verizon's BlackBerry Pearl is the first Pearl to get EV-DO and a 3.5mm minijack, and also adds Verizon's VZ Navigator service, which is standard across these phones. The Venus slider sports an interesting dual screen setup, with the bottom providing contextual touch controls and the top one acting like all normal-like. Venus, with black or pink color options, is the real fashionphone of the group, and rocks a boring 2 megapixel sensor, but there's a microSD slot for up to 8GB of expansion. Finally, the Voyager (pictured) does it all, with a full screen touchscreen on the outside, and a second screen on the clamshell interior, facing a gargantuan QWERTY keyboard. V CAST Mobile TV makes an appearance, as does a microSD slot and 2 megapixel camera. All of these phones are supposed to be out by Thanksgiving, but no word on price or exact dates -- though the Juke and Pearl are hitting first, to be followed by the Venus and then the Voyager."

| Fucking retarded design. No way it's any competition to the iPhone, that's just Verizons marketing department on overdrive.
You can't use the qwerty keyboard with the main screen? Give me a break. Plus that thing will be more crippled than Helen Keller, given that it's coming from Verizon.

| | Hey-- I am a proud past owner of the moto-brick. That was a killer phone. The holster I had for it attached to my belt and also around my thigh.... No joke. | |

| The owner of the grainery (my dads a farmer) I haul our crops to STILL rocks the Zach Morris phone. Its fawkin sweet, dude rocks it in (90% hanging out of) his back pocket; looks uncomfortable as hell, but im so impressed with his dedication
I cant figure out how its even compatible with phone technologies today |

| All I want is a phone with an address book. Is that so hard? No internet, no TV, no $45.00 per month data package. Just a fuckin' address book.
And I have to have Verizon because its the only one that works at the in-laws' house.

| I'm in.. I gotta replace this damn Treo 700p. I hardly use the thing in all reality because its a shitty phone, but does the other stuff decently. I use my 8525 constantly since its my work phone and its so much more superior in terms of smartphones.

| | I can find any significant information regarding the browser. I know it's fully html compliant, but is the layout the "old school" html links? or an interactive browser like the iPhone? | |

| Update on this phone:
I went and tested out this phone last Friday at the Verizon store and boy was I let down.
The touch screen is alright. The screen is a nice size and fits perfectly in your hand, and Verizon does offer a vibration sensor, letting you know that you've selected something. Scrolling however, is a nightmare. When I went to the contacts list, there's a small bar that you're supposed to use to scroll- well you can't reach it even with your thumbnail and when I tried to scroll, it would select that particular contact (very annoying).
The overall layout and colors/icons used on the touch screen is more appealing than other phones and is compareable to the iPhone. The Voyager utilizes the enV side-flip phone platform, which sadly dissapointed me. Old menu screens and complicated tabs were a dissapointment, as seen in all cheaper verizon phones. If i'm going to pay almost $400 for a phone, give me something fresh looking.
The layout of the keyboard was pretty easy to use, with flat larger buttons in comparison to the traditional bubble buttons found on the MotoQ, Palm Treo Platforms, Samsung and more. However the 4 way keypad used for navigation was a little hoakie as I had to push the buttons a couple times to get them to select/move around.
The browser was HTML compliant, but still used the old layout found on other phones. I had to scroll alot to view any of the content (truckblog) :)
I loaded up the video camera (once i found it) and took a 5 second clip of my surrounds. Note that Verizon offers a 4" or so sized screen, and the preview screen of what you're taking is a 1x1" square- another dissapointment. The huge upset- having a large screen and no fullscreen option to view the videos- this upset me off the most. How do you offer a multimedia phone with no full screen support? In the menu options that are given while in the video mode, i found NO full screen mode.
I walked out the door and felt that my 2 year old Motorola Q is still superior to this new "Iphone killer". I may just switch over to Cingular for the Iphone (aside from the fact that my Aunt can hook me up big time).
That's my informal review. Gizmodo has a much more detailed review at their site below.
