Building tranny mounts and cross member pieces. My youngest thought this was cool

After trying to cut 2x2 .250 wall with a chop saw, I said Fawk it. Went to HF and got a band saw. Thing is sweet, turn it on and sit it on the piece, then walk away.

While we were at HF I spotted some casters. Been wanting to build a better work bench. The old one is small and no real room to work. Plus couldn't clamp anything to it and not sit up at it.

So the new bench is 8'x3' 40" tall made out of 4x4, 2x6, 2x4 and 2 pieces of ply to equal 1". Has a 5" vice on one end. Plus I can roll it outside and work next to what I'm working on.

Modified the old bench to hold bins and stuff.

Needed to weld a little on the back rack. So I used the new bench to hold stuff. A couple sparks hit the bench and left burn marks. Figured the bench would look like crap by the end of the summer.....

A trip to the local scrap yard is going to fix that.
8'x4' 1/16" steel plate.

Man biulding Haze has increased the garage stuff!!! LOL

I started on building a workbench but the work load went up at work and now I get to work instead of working on my garage.

Geez, look at you go! I've got to clean all the crap out of mine, left over from moving, then I can hopefully do some cool stuff like that.

Well the bench is done for now. Still thinking about 1" steel strips along the edge.

Cut the 1/16" steel and used drywall screws to hold it. Countersunk the heads.

Well the steel wasn't outside friendly! It got hot quick in the sun. Tried white paint, but that was like snow, very cool but BRIGHT.

So I thought of the Humvee's.

Here you can see the construction of the top.

5/8 ply

Honestly Jesse, yes it will but...

This one is what I think will be better. I've used mine about 10 or 12 times now. Cutting flat stock, threaded rod and a couple pieces or square tube. I'm almost in need of a blade.

You might want to upgrade if you do it more then just weekends.
