| I would like to make a suggestion that you step up the caliber to the 40 S&W not much more recoil than the 9mm but much better stopping power. As for which gun to choose go rent different makes and models of the caliber you want and choose which you like. I personally love my Glocks but i also Love my Berretta's

| | That is what i am doing, my next purchase is gonna be a .40 cal, but for now the Taurus 9mm 24/7 is great, and the taurus is a reasonalbly priced 9mm, and the 24/7 is small and compact but not to small, mine sits on my bedside table and goes to the mountains with me sometimes. Even with tthe fixed sights the accurancy is damn good and i have shitty aim..lol | |

| I recently sold my Glock 19 (it just never did 'feel' right in my hand) but I'll never sell my Berretta , I just love it.
I did pick up a sweet little new polymer frame S&W Sigma 9mm 'wonder-nine' at a gun show this weekend. It's 16+1, has very good balance & feel and even came with a cool little flashlight besides to two stainless mags, lock and manual in the plastic case, batteries included all for a Very affordable $265. just over half of what I got for my old Glock!
btw, it's also available in .40 cal w/ mag capacity dropping to 'just' 15 rounds for only about $25 more...
I just wanted to keep my ammunition inventory simple, ie. 12 ga, .308 & 9mm |

If I was you, go rent some guns and shoot them.
I would NEVER own a 9mm, only 40-45 for me

| Step up to a .40 S & W caliber.More stopping power and not much more recoil or coin.The FBI and CIA originally carried .45's but were limited on magazine capacity so they switched to 9's, smaller rounds equaled higher capacity magazines.Only problem is the 9mm had no stopping power so they contracted Smith & Wesson to develop both a caliber and semi-auto that would incapacitate as much as a .45 and carry as many rounds as possible. Check out Beretta, HK, Sig, Taurus, Ruger and Kimber. HK are standard military and police issue in most European countries. Beretta, HK and Sig are top quality firearms and your most expensive. Taurus is a very good product even though they are manufactured in Brazil. I have a friend that owns a Taurus .45 and he has absolutely no complaints. Ruger is made here in the US, they are also a very good product and fairly inexpensive. I personally own a Ruger P91DC in .40 and am pleased with it's performance. It is not the most accurate or prettiest semi-auto handgun out there but it does serve it's purpose. It is a very durable firearm, one that can basically take a beating. Kimber is also manufactured here and are fast becoming very popular. They are a very good quality firearm, so good they are the standard issue for the LAPD SWAT team. Also, Springfield Armory and Smith & Wesson are getting good reviews. I have test fired Glocks and was not happy with the way they feel in my hand and they just feel cheap, don't get me wrong they are a good quality gun thats just my opinion. You need to go to a firing range and test fire all the firearms you can get your hands on. Take notes on how each gun feels in your hand, ease of loading magazines,etc. Talk to the employees and other customers at the range and your local gun stores. Also, Check out americanhandgunner.com
