Well, I need help.
My truck has started popping the 30A fuse for the PCM. I will be driving along, and all of a sudden, truck just dies. It has happened 5 times now. All different conditions while driving. One time on freeway, doing 70mph, another time, backing up in driveway, twice while making turns, 1 left other right, on surface streets at speeds lower than 10mph. Only common component that I can think of is temperature. It's been hot here for a few days, and I am thinking that either computer(PCM) is getting hot and grounding out, or that I have a wiring harness issue. The reason that I posted this in the Chips & Programming thread is that I have had on my PCM an old Blue Chip from Superchips. I have since taken the chip off, but I am worried that the chip went bad, and fried something in the PCM.
Give me some advice. To replace the PCM is approximately $200, to diagnose the wiring system is $250.(that's just to diagnose, not repair). Which direction should I take, as I really can only afford one choice right now? If I buy the PCM and I still pop fuses, then that's a waste. But, if after 3 hours of searching the wiring harness they still haven't found the issue, then I am really up the creek.

| I'd start checking the main harnesses between the fuse box and PCM. A likely reason for something like this is that you have a wire on that circuit that has had the insulation cut or rubbed through and every once in a while it shorts to ground.
If the PCM was actually bad I wouldn't expect it to work when you replace the fuse - it would be fried by that much current!
